Paid Parental Leave

So let me get this straight -

This budget, Abbott/Hockey will be taking away the modest $11,000 minimum wage Paid Parental Leave entitlement currently available to mothers in some workplaces if they also have access to other schemes.

Yet up until 2 months ago, under Abbotts own Parental Scheme, women would recieve Paid Parental Leave at their substantive position salary AND would be able to double dip into other schemes.

How do you go from the ridiculously over-generous to taking things away??

Why do I have the feeling that this budget is going to be as scatterbrained as the last one which will make it impossible for other parties to agree to see it through?

And.....

Many women take a reduced salary in their contract to allow for maternity leave. So, they have foregone more money they have actually worked for on the premise that it would be paid to them during maternity leave.

And.....

It will only come in if the senate passes the last budget on taking away the Part B.

And.....

It's not going to come in till 2017!!!!!! That's two budget's away.

As if that's not enough, if someone is unemployed and has a day or two of childcare organised, they will have to cancel it if they can't get a job. Then......if they do eventually get one of those abundant jobs, they will have to find another one of those abundant childcare places again. Stat.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

on another note;  why should taxpayers pay for people to have children then pay for them to be cared for. Nannyism and welfareism writ large here.

Hear the outright rage and outrage when a hand out is taken back, never mind that the mountain of debt is still there, the mountain that is growing every day, never mind that as long as your handout isn't taken from you.

Looking forward to the marketplace gearing up and here it is already. Whinge, moan,  but what about the debt???

they do that  "it won't come in to effect until 2017" thing so that they can't be accused of breaking promises ( or lying)

I never agreed with the PPL of the PM either, along with the majority of the party.

As for your "lying" comment. Labor actually legislated things into law (Climate commission and Gonski) so it could "never be changed"  how's that for democracy.

They also only costed the so called "gonski" for one (1) term knowing full well that it was unaffordable in the long term, they used the most vulnerable in the community as a political tool and wedge.

So don't lecture me about your so called "lying".

If you want to have children then pay for them and don't expect the taxpayers to pay for them and also their care along with all the other "benefits" you get.

Just remember the debt and deficit Labor left the country in and try to get your head around the billion dollars a month it costs to service this debt and then come back and start moaning about your handouts.

I'm also not saying I agree with it but if it is legislated then it is being done all wrong.

I think it is pretty much fact now that the debt and deficit issue has been debunked many times by economists world wide. It's just Murdoch and the LNP who are still holding on to the fallacy.

Where's MM when he's needed to put up the graphs of debt and themassive $1 billion a month we have to pay to service the Labor debt?

The debt that no one can deny, OH wait! you did Robot LOL  Oh that's right it's just a Murdoch conspiracy.

The mind boggles, but expected from the secular clericy.
