"The lions of Islam have avenged our Prophet," Abu Mussab, who fights for IS insurgents in Syria, told Reuters via internet connection. "These are our lions. It's the first drops – more will follow," he said, speaking via an internet connection from Syria. He added that he and his fellow fighters are happy about the incident.
Mussab said he did not know the gunmen who carried out the attack, but added "they are on the path of the emir [IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi]....and our Sheikh Osama (bin Laden)."
Reports suggest that the cartoons portraying Prophet Mohammed published earlier by the satirical paper were the reason for the attack. The gunmen reportedly called out the victims by name, shouting: “We have avenged the prophet."
The religion of peace at it again.

From the link:
Sine wrote that Sarkozy junior "has just said he intends to convert to Judaism before marrying his fiancée, who is Jewish, and the heiress to the founders of Darty," a French retail giant. "He'll go far, that kid," he wrote.
Charlie Hebdo editor Philippe Val said Sine was sacked for remarks that "could be interpreted as drawing a link between conversion to Judaism and social success", relaying the old stereotype linking Jews and money.

Maurice Sinet (born 31 December 1928), known as Siné, is a French cartoonist.
His article and cartoons in the magazine Charlie Hebdo relating to Jean Sarkozy's marriage to Jessica Sebaoun-Darty, the Jewish heiress, touched off a controversy, after journalist Claude Askolovitch described them as anti-Semitic.[2] The magazine's editor, Phillipe Val, ordered Siné to write a letter of apology or face termination. The cartoonist said he would rather "cut his own balls off", and was promptly fired.[3]
Maurice Sinet also reported a death threat posted on a site run by the Jewish Defence League. The text said "20 centimeters of stainless steel in the gut, that should teach the **bleep** to stop and think"

Jean Sarkozy said: "The rumour of conversion is false. And when I read antisemitic remarks on blogs, I'm very shocked. I ask myself where it all comes from."

PARIS (JTA) — A major figure in French satire, cartoonist Maurice Sinet, was acquitted of spreading anti-Semitism.
A French court in Lyon ruled Tuesday that the cartoonist known as Sinי was innocent of “inciting racial hatred” in an article that said Jean Sarkozy, son of the French president, “would go far in life” for converting to Judaism and marring a Jewish heiress.

It's a shame the police officer didn't have a weapon, and in turn able to defend himself. 😞
