Paris manhunt: 3 gunmen at large, 12 shot dead at Charlie Hebdo offices

No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, an Islamic State militant praised the attack on the French satirical magazine on Wednesday.

"The lions of Islam have avenged our Prophet," Abu Mussab, who fights for IS insurgents in Syria, told Reuters via internet connection. "These are our lions. It's the first drops – more will follow," he said, speaking via an internet connection from Syria. He added that he and his fellow fighters are happy about the incident.

Mussab said he did not know the gunmen who carried out the attack, but added "they are on the path of the emir [IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi]....and our Sheikh Osama (bin Laden)."

Reports suggest that the cartoons portraying Prophet Mohammed published earlier by the satirical paper were the reason for the attack. The gunmen reportedly called out the victims by name, shouting: “We have avenged the prophet."

I presume you wanted to come here to start a new life and not convert us all to what you left behind unlike so many of these Islamic types that see it as their duty to convert the world to Islam

I don't know on the news I see extremists implying to convert us on the street I'm accousted by other religions trying to convert me. But France has seen some incredibly shocking extremes from religious protests (Molotovs once the weapon of choice for Christians etc). This is sad and sickening and is beyond reason but to start to accuse that all Mulims are hateful would be bitterly ironic as we imply hatred towards them. These are isolated incidents from $%&%^*& who don't respect humanity like we all do from all walks of life. Will we ever be rid of them? Who knows, probably not any more than we will be done with wars, murder, corruption etc.

1. French terrorists  -  post in this thread - The police source said one of them had been identified by his identity card which had been left in the getaway car.

2. Haneef suspected terrorist - sim card ties doctor to terrorists court told- headline (2007) Sim card a supposed 'link' to suspected terrorist.  The authoriies were wrong this time.

The connections between 1 and 2 are -  terrorists (or suspected terrorists)  and items found that could connect them directly to a terrorist act or the intention to commit one.

So, is Donahue claiming that it's not ok to hold to account (by way of satire) the evil which is preached and practised by people, be they religious, or representatives of religion or otherwise?

Criticism of evil is to suppressed at our peril; the peril of having of that evil perpetuated, because we find it "politically incorrect" to criticise it. This is wrong and is unacceptable.

Some of the first to speak out were Muslim clerics who declared these people are criminals not muslims.  One said the criminals would no longer be welcome to enter a Mosque.
