"The lions of Islam have avenged our Prophet," Abu Mussab, who fights for IS insurgents in Syria, told Reuters via internet connection. "These are our lions. It's the first drops – more will follow," he said, speaking via an internet connection from Syria. He added that he and his fellow fighters are happy about the incident.
Mussab said he did not know the gunmen who carried out the attack, but added "they are on the path of the emir [IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi]....and our Sheikh Osama (bin Laden)."
Reports suggest that the cartoons portraying Prophet Mohammed published earlier by the satirical paper were the reason for the attack. The gunmen reportedly called out the victims by name, shouting: “We have avenged the prophet."
The religion of peace at it again.

If Donohue said
"Killing in response to insult, no matter how gross, must be unequivocally condemned.
That is why what happened in Paris cannot be tolerated," says Donohue. "But neither should we tolerate the kind of intolerance that provoked this violent reaction."
He is claiming that the Charlie Hebdo journal published intolerant articles which provoked . .
and he is therefore making a call to restrict journalism so it doesn't provoke.
That is wrong and is unacceptable. What do you want; a press which is free or a press which self-censors what it prints because it might provoke violence against it?
That is nothing short of saying that blackmail is ok and acceptable. It is Not!
It isn't journalism, imo.
I want people to stop thinking that anything is acceptable, that they don't have to show respect for others, that they can say and do whatever they like to provoke, as some kind of sport.............
It's not blackmail.

Bachelor of Journalism:
The basis of journalism is information - discovering, collecting, assembling, analysing and presenting information. To do this effectively, journalists require highly developed skills in language, a good understanding of the media, an interest in current affairs and a broad general knowledge.
A journalist must be able to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately and quickly, and have an inquiring nature and well developed people skills.

Well, Charlie Hebdo is a journal and even cartoons are journalism, especially so if they offer political commentary.
To call to restrict that commentary if we don't like what is said, is censorship. To claim that such commentary should be restricted because it has the potential to provoke violence against it is tantamount to accpting that a violent reponse is ok.
It isn't.
A free press is bound to upset quite a lot of people on occasion, but that is the price paid for freedom.
To advocate for the restriction of the printing of provocative articles because it might lead to violent attack (and those threats have been made and been made manifest) is to accept blackmail.
I want people to stop thinking that anything is acceptable, that they don't have to show respect for others, that they can say and do whatever they like to provoke,
But Islam does just this. It doesn't show respect for non-Muslims (they are called Kuffar) and islam certainly says a lot of stuff which is upsetting and provocative.
Double standards?

I have no double standards, I expect the same from everybody.

Your opinion is worth nothing in the world where 12 people going about their business were gunned down because someone took offence to their cartoons. Concrete. Drink it. Do not pull out a gun and blast away those with opposing views. And don't you dare give any of them an excuse to do so.

you could critique people for murdering other people just because they didn't share their opinion or drawing a picture.
you think it's ok to kill people for satire but you think it's not ok to critique people for killing other people.
that's just plain sick.

Where did I offer an excuse?
Opinions are acceptable here, it's a forum but don't tell me what I think is wrong.
I agree with Donohue, about the terrorists and about the "journos"
