Re: Pauline Hanson calls for ban on Muslim immigration

Well I am gobsmacked.  You've done it again.  Where do I start?

1.  You quote the Gatestone Institute.

2.  You quote Daniel Pipes.

Neither meet my approval.  Both are tainted similarly to RT.  Why on earth do you bother with that great long post without checking the facts?  The Gatestone Institute was founded and is run by a well known, anti-muslim jewish heiress.  Daniel Pipes was an advisor to Rudy Giuliani for petes sake.  Giuliani thinks Trump won the debate last week!  I could go into more detail about both sources, but they are both all over the internet if anyone is interested in wasting a few minutes.

3.  I didn't accuse you of being right wing; I said you were quoting right wing twaddle.  Now you're doing it again!

4.  I do not support Islam in any way, nor do I condemn it.  I do support the individual's right to follow their own path without being attacked by ignorant people armed with a few facts who think they know better than everybody else.  I support truth and accuracy.

5.  I suggest you acquire a deeper understanding of Islam through some genuine study instead of relying on information that is dubious at best.  Then maybe you can educate us blissfully ignorant fools from a point of authority.

It is a complete religio-political doctrine which holds as one of its essential tenets that Religion and the State cannot ever be separate and independant

Re: Pauline Hanson calls for ban on Muslim immigration

Well, I'm sorry if my quoted sources do not meet with your approval.

Are you however disputing the veracity and accuracy of the information contained in those articles?

Even if truth issues from a source which we might find distasteful to our cutured sensibilities, it remains nonetheless, the truth, and I'd far rather debate the issues with you then just see you sit back attacking the sources while not disputing what those sources actually say.

My knowledge of Islam doesn't come from "tained sources" but is derived directly from reading extensively the texts of Islam; namely the Koran, the Sunnah and the Hadith and from reading many and various Islamic-run websites Can you say the same?

Re: Pauline Hanson calls for ban on Muslim immigration

It is not a matter of them not meeting anybody's approval.  They are tainted sources and therefore unreliable, so yes, I dispute the veracity and accuracy of the information contained in those articles.

I am not interested in debating an issue where the purpose of the debate is to villify people.  You can have that for yourself.  Hopefully you will use facts in your future endeavours.  I have nothing further to add to this thread.

I apologise for inferring you may be ignorant of the Islamic faith; I didn't realise you had taken this obsession to the extent of learning Arabic.  Congratulations and well done.

Re: Pauline Hanson calls for ban on Muslim immigration

So, you choose to shut down the debate by impugning the integrity of the sources I quoted (and coming across as anti-Semitic in the process, by the way) and you baldly state that the information reported is false but without offering any proof for that assertion.

Then you go on to attribute to me motivations which I do not possess, those accustions being both slanderous and defamatory.

I accept your apology but i reject your implication of my  possessing some sort of "obsession".

The violent events recently occurring in Europe  and to a lesser degree here in Australia which involve fthe followers of Islam, be they immigrants or native citizens is a phenomenon which is worth consideration as it affects all of us on a national as well as sometimes on a personal level and believe it or not, it really is possible to discuss what is going on without including ad hominem attacks or strategies of outright denial  or by attacking the messenger while refusing to discuss the issues raised in the message.

Shalom, bro'.

Sorry johcaschro but I do agree with peteepie about the pedigree of news sources. Unless an article appears in Pravda or the People's Daily I refuse to consider it accurate or honest.

Re: Pauline Hanson calls for ban on Muslim immigration

Re the Gatestone Institue, wikipedia gives this information:

Criticism

The Council on American–Islamic Relations [20] and progressive/liberal think tanks and political magazines such as the Institute for Policy Studies,[21] The Nation,[9] and the Center for American Progress[citation needed] have categorized Nina Rosenwald and the Gatestone Institute as anti-Muslim.

Responses

Practicing Muslim activists (some, affiliated with the Gatestone Institute) have come to Ms. Rosenwald's defense in response to this accusation. Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, founder and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, said, "It goes without saying, but to those who may not know Nina, and having known her now for many years, it is clear to me that she has the highest respect for Muslims who love their faith, love God, and take seriously our Islamic responsibility to defeat the global jihad and its Islamist inspiration." In response to anti-Muslim allegations made by the Council on American–Islamic Relations toward Rosenwald, writer and film maker Raheel Raza said, "If Muslims guided by CAIR could take the time to read and reflect on efforts of people like Nina, they would broaden their horizons and gain a lot of insights into the betterment of Muslims."[20]

(that last ref. number, 20 links to this site

http://observer.com/2015/05/islamic-scholars-blast-cair-for-trapping-muslims-into-a-trance-of-victim...

where the article says:

Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, founder and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD), serves on the Gatestone Institute Board of Advisors. He told me, “CAIR’s libelous implication that Nina supports bigotry against Muslims in my experience could not be further from the truth.”
Ms. Rosenwald is president of the Gatestone Institute, a self-described “non-partisan, not-for-profit international policy council and think tank.” In response to CAIR’s claim that she funds “fear and hate” of Islam, Ms. Rosenwald told me that “Gatestone Institute has many Distinguished Fellows and authors who are serious Muslims; we consider it a great honor to further their views.”

Re Daniel Pipes, Wikipedia includes this information:

(Daniel) Pipes has written, "It’s a mistake to blame Islam, a religion 14 centuries old, for the evil that should be ascribed to militant Islam, a totalitarian ideology less than a century old. Militant Islam is the problem, but moderate Islam is the solution."[8][22] Pipes believes that moderate Muslims "constitute a very small movement", but a "brave" one, which the U.S. government should "give priority to locating, meeting with, funding, forwarding, empowering, and celebrating"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Pipes

I just thought I should clarify my choices of source material and to correct any false impressions which might have arisen.

peteepe, I suggest you acquire a modicum of academic integrity and fair play and tell the whole story instead of relying on prejudicial unsubstantiated hearsay in your critques.
