Paying Tolls

A mate drove me down to Burleigh Heads today in his car. How do I pay the tolls that he incurred on this trip?

I have been on govia.com.au, but can't make head-nor-tail of it.

There's no way visitors and tourists and people without an Etag are fined just for taking a wrong turn.

If you accidentally go through a toll road,  you are not fined, you are sent a bill.   Pay it promptly , no fine.

Polks, since they removed the on road toll booths, it has changed, they don't send a bill, they send you a notice to pay plus an admin fee, I believe it is + $7.

You don't need to wait for Monday Rabbit, the GOVIA is 7 days, you have 3 days to pay it.

All you need is the car rego number.

I usually take my Etag when I go in a car that does not have one, however, I also can add the rego of family cars to my tag for temporary use.

OK, that is right, although the fee was not as much as that for me.  But is not a fine.  The fine is added if the first account is not paid.

I went across the ridiculously named Go Between bridge.  Never again.

Here in Melbourne that is illegal.  You cannot use etag on car that you did not register on your account.  I asked when I needed friend with large 4wd to take me to pick up from the airport something that would not fit in my car - 200km on toll roads, and much more expensive as casual user.   But I was told I will get fined if my tag is used with vehicle not on my account.

Really? When we got our etag (NSW, many years ago), I was able to order two brackets so we could use it in either car. They may have been both registered in the same name though, I can't remember now.

Not illegal here, it just means if the Etag fails, I need to be aware of it and call them. It has happened but they always adjust it.

Every time I read the title of this thread I think the trolls are making a living at it now.

We don't have tolls here as far as I know.

Not yet J* there is discussion again now whether the freeways should be tolled. I don't think I care much either way, but I don't have to drive into the city every day anymore.

Just ring them up and tell whoever answers what you need to do and why and they will take care of it for you - will probably need your card number (credit/debit card) and that's all there is to it - Sandra 🙂
