Penguins on antidepressants

poor little sods.

I wonder how the ones in the wild are coping?

Do penguins migrate?

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

The ones in the wild are living naturally so probably don't get depressed

Blessed are the cracked, for they are the ones who let in the light.

The story is about the poor penguins trying to cope in English zoos.

Penguins are native to the southern hemisphere, rarely going further north.

I'm not surprised the ones in England have to have anti-depressants,

given the weather they have been having.  I think I would need them too

in that weather.

As an aside,  I went to Penguin in Tassie.   They don't have any penguins

in Penguin  : - )

It's not so much the weather in England that's the problem but more like the poor buggers just don't understand the twupcha language

Pretty low temps, lack of sunshinedaylight in winter, in Antarctica. The penguin species there are in their natural habitat though.

The story in the opening post is about the constant storms/ wet weather in the UK that the penguins there, have to cope with.

But they live in the sea?  Or at least  get wet when they look for food.

At least they don't have killer whales using them for sport

The lack of sunshine was the issue wasn't it? Too much stormy wet weather not enough sunshine.

Who knows exactly what the penguins are thinkingWoman Very Happy

If they were returned to their natural habitat they would probably die wouldn't they, after being in captivity for a long time?

From the op link:

Crawford said the drugs are "doing the trick so far", but only an extended period of sunshine will "give the penguins the tonic they really need".

Unfortunately, it might be some time until the sun comes out.
