Same thing happened here late this afternoon/tonight, quite extraordinary!

I was out fencing in a vineyard in the Adelaide hills today and saw the formation. It was quite spectacular. I thought maybe Trump had finally pressed the button as it looked a bit like an atomic bomb cloud.

I've been looking for faces in the clouds, in the article.
In the fifth photo down, just to the left of centre, at the bottom of the cloud - there's a LOLCat...!

Anyone know why it's called an anvil thunderstorm ?
The main cloud had a thin base and it then spread out at the top, possibly trapped by temperature inversion. If this is the case, I would expect the cloud could often be pointy at the ends like an anvil, although that was not how this cloud formed.
