Ha, so you too are a self confessed neo luddite.   Remote controls drive me insane...,there's four in every room ....arrrrrrrggghhh.

It took me ages to get everything thruout the house hooked up so one thing would talk to another from music to DVD to TV to MP3 etc.   I can't even come at Smart TV's...not smart enough yet...:^O

Oh, she signed up with this mob and is still paying lower rates - prices have moved and it's not unlimited:

I highly recommend Amaysim though as I know a lot of people that use it. My son gets unlimited calls to all lines and 5 Gigs of data with NO contract.

Yes, they are now iinet, you are correct.

Though our bill each month still says Westnet, and our email addy is still a westnet one. They use the Optus lines for mobile phone service rather than telstra.

Wait until the NBN is live in your street/area. I think you posted the other day they were working on that recently.

I was connected to the NBN recently until I moved house. With Optus 50GB peak/70 off peak and a landline (VOIP) using exisitng phone equipment was $60p/m. 1 month contract.

I don't think it wise to sign up for broadband internet for 24mths as so much changes in that amount of time (better deals are offered etc).

You need to know how many GB's you want and what price you will pay up to, then try and find internet providers that offer that.

Does 1 teen really need unlimited GB's?  Wouldn't 100GB be enough or 500GB.

So many of the smaller ISP's do use OPTUS lines or whatever now.

When I got the NBN connected it was in a test area. The ISP provided and installed for free in our house for a wireless modem/router, so there were no costs at all to set it up. Also as mentioned above a monthly contract was available, no signing 24 mths contract... so if I didn't like it or it didn't work out I could have cancelled at any time with 30 days notice. Did actually move 12mths later so no contract to break (NBN is not yet avail on other side of town).

They are keen to sign people up to the NBN, so may still have incentives like that.

You can buy speed packs also for the NBN. I just stuck with the basic one for no extra cost, but others are available for extra $5, or $10 per month which give faster speeds.

Amaysim is mobile.

NBN is fixed line with lots of data. NBN will be best for your sons and school.

iinet have mobile services etc now and NBN. Or it might be cheaper to go with amaysim for mobiles and NBN with VoIP for land line calls if you want. A landline is not required with NBN. DIY VoIP may be cheaper than pre-configured RSP delivered VoIP.

Exetel have some very cheap NBN plans.

Thank you am*3.

The kid's just got a new gaming computer and is downloading games that are mega gigs in size ... And, he's been frustrated with keeping in his current 15G limit ... I'm not fussed about that, the difference between 20G and unlimited is not too big and I'm happy to keep him happy.
