Just a little change to the chat thread.
A place to chat about photo's in the competition thread (it will be an ongoing thread) and also where you can post photo's that may not quite fit in with the current weeks theme and also any other photo's you may like to show off.
As usual put creepy crawlies in a spoiler box.

I mostly use just my little Sony cybershot camera Pimpy. It does have that little macro symbol on it which I use but it is a bit hit and miss, or maybe I should say I am a bit hit and miss. Plenty of blurry photos too.
It used to have macro on and macro off and macro close focus but I have lost that setting. I don't know where it went!

This is pretty much why I specified, "or to put it simply, close up".........It generally requires a macro lens to achieve "macro" photography..........even my stuff is more "close up" than "macro".
This is more in the way of macro..............
Pimpy, what new lens did you buy?

Thanks J*oono, he's turning into a most handsome young man, his parents were both feral (Mr Tende rescued Spud off the roof/ceiling of a supermarket, hence the name) and we weren't sure what he'd end up like.
Mind you, he's getting huge, only 8 months old and he's kind of turning into FatcatRuby....
Pimpy, I have that flower symbol on my camera but it's only called 'close up' when I click onto it... That's what I use for my close ups and use with my longer lens as the photos seem to come out better than the small lens.
I'm busting for a macro...I Keep hinting to Mr T.

Jake, I have a nikon and bought a 105mm micro lens. It has a very very small (narrow? is that the right term) depth of field for close up stuff, so only a tiny bit is in focus. That could just be my ignorance though, I don't really have a clue how to use my camera properly. It's nearly impossible to use on auto focus on really close stuff as the slightest movement has it refocusing.
Punchdrunk, I tried to take a screen shot of my phone showing where to find the 'macro' setting but the stupid thing won't let me. I have a samsung. I would think the iphones would have it if you knew where to look.

Good ones aren't cheap............this is mine. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/194451-USA/Canon_4657A006_100mm_f_2_8_USM_Macro.html
However, for a little less money, you can get a 60 mm macro http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/371176-USA/Canon_0284B002_EF_S_60mm_f_2_8_Macro.html
Other camera makes have similar lenses available.

that would be pretty much the same as the nikkor I bought.

Mines a Sony Xperia. I'll google later and see if I can find anything. I changed it to manual but there was still no obvious macro setting.
