Photo challenge rules

I know a few of of us have pics on our computers they were taken by spouses or offspring.  Someone else mentioned having siblings photos as well. Then there are professional pics that still belong to us e.g. school photos of our kids etc..

It's hard to know where to draw the line. I have pics taken with my camera by my my hubby and I have to stop and think which one of us took it.

I think if we have a direct link to the the pic it should be allowed to be posted, but I'm not sure about voting on it.

I'm going to offer a few options in the next few posts. Give kudos to the one you agree with the most.

Re: Photo challenge rules

In my opinion, one of the best features of this concept is testing (and I suppose judging) our photography skills. I see those as being composition, technique and content. If we allow photos taken by others I believe we discount two of those three.

If a poster uses a tripod for their camera or uses their phone for a selfie shot, then that should be permitted, but it must be stated how the picture was taken.

We use the tripod a lot for videos or photos to send pictures of both of us to family and close friends.

I think that will be to confusing, the tripod thing, we do not need to know that, we just have to be honest that it is our own picture, we should state where it was taken and I'd say forget about selfies. This is not a criticism just my opinion.

Re: Photo challenge rules

Since I am the only one here that takes photo's I don't have the problem of knowing who took the photo.  I have a brother and son who are right into photography but I wouldn't dream of using any of their photo's ever.

I also think if you want to share what others (as in family or friends)  take that there should be a separate thread for that because it will become too confusing for some, especially people just wanting to look and vote, they might not know the rules.

Re: Photo challenge rules

I think that maybe photos taken by spouse or family member can be included for kudos with a statement that it is by a family member but it can't be in the winners circle.

I think I voted wrong.  I am happy for them to be included and either included or not included in the comp Smiley Very Happy

Either way.

Re: Photo challenge rules

Until this latest challenge, the rules did state ..photo must be posters own work.. prior to that only 1 or 2 ( personal photos with poster themselves in them) were posted that weren't posters own work, plus a couple of blips early on.

Seriously? Why would you want to post someone else's work (for example, of scenery that you weren't actually there yourself to witness)?

This weeks topic is weather, anyone can go outside and take a photo to join in.

I also forgot to say that with the photo of me, I have a 10 second timer on my camera.  That was not easy to accomplish with a hoop.
