I can't believe the number of insects I find on our milkweed plants. We've have a number of monarch caterpillars too. The first pic is one that is almost full grown - I kept watching to see where it was going to form its chrysalis, but couldn't find it. The second photo is an itty bitty one that was only a few days old.

They(fayes photos) are so pretty. I want to buy a lot more milkweed... now that I know that I can keep it alive for longer than a day.

I never purchased our milkweed plants - they are like weeds around here - and quite invasive. I keep a section of them for the Monarchs, but am constantly having to remove new shoots from coming up between our deck boards, lol.

LMAO. I went to a special "save the Monarch's" plant sale. I think I paid $10 for a tiny 3" half dead plant.
I was thinking today that I might have paid too much. At least I have a lot of butterflies in my yard.
If it's possible, it will be me who is capable of killing a weed.

I think California has a different type of native milkweed plant(?) I know you would trouble killing ours (Midwest). I hope your milkweed makes it. Do you have any native plant nurseries out there? They may have the plants at a more reasonable price.
I planted another section of the yard with "butterfly garden" seeds this year. Lots of pretty plants & flowers - but the butterflies don't seem to care for them so much, lol.

Great photo's even though I do not like bugs.
Just thought I'd share a couple tulip photos, they have just started flowering.

Very pretty, roserobin. What kind of tulips are those? They don't look like the tulips I normally see. Your tulips have multiple layers of petals.

TCM it called "Double Price" tulip and is from the double tulip family. I bought them specifically because they were different to normal tulips.
