My dear departed mum, an fair dinkum Aussie from Bacchus Marsh, used a clothesline all of her life.

Band, My husbands mum used a clothesline in Scotland. I once asked her why she even bothered washing her clothes first, as it rained nearly everyday.

Come on now.  You know we don't say mum ever!  

My husband's family grew up on a farm in Minnesota.  If they ever heard an American say mum, they'd die laughing.

Talk about trying to ingratiate.

I thought it was about moms or mums lol and clothes on the line.

We say Mum in New Zealand as well, Dad tried to get us to say Mother and Father but we just laughed 🙂

TCM's mother in law would be a "Mum" if she was from Scotland, unless of course they have another term there apart from mother that I have not heard of.

TCM please don't tell me you all use clothes driers.

If you have a rotary clothes dryer do what I was taught, undies in the very middle and work your way to the outside with bigger items, wallah, no see undies.
