Plane missing with 236 people on board

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-03-08/malaysia-airlines-lost-contact-with-plane/5307888

Malaysia Airlines says one of its planes has gone missing on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

A statement from the airline says flight MH370 lost contact with air traffic controllers at 2:40am local time, just over two hours into the flight.

The plane, a Boeing 777-200, left Kuala Lumpur at 12:41am on Saturday, and had been due to arrive in Beijing at 6:30am local time.

The company says the plane was carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members.

The airline says it is contacting the next-of-kin of all passengers and crew, which includes people of 13 different nationalities.

In a statement on the airline's website, group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the airline was working with authorities to locate the aircraft.

"Focus of the airline is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilise its full support," the statement said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members."

The airline says it will provide regular updates on its website.

The ABC understand Malaysia Airlines will hold a press conference on the incident shortly.

I dare to question that this was an accident that is all.

You're not questioning. You're stating as fact that the plane was shot down and there's a cover up.

You, just like the rest of us here do not have any facts apart from the fact the plane is missing.

The passengers are all someone's family.

If they stumble across this thread I'd prefer they find some sympathy rather than a flood of conspiracy theories.

You've started a conspiracy theory thread so please keep your conspiracy theories in it.

as crazy as the theories may be...........he/she has every right to post them

i am pretty sure the famalies are well aware of all the conspiracy theories being thrown around

going by the title of the thread and the OP this is a good a place as any.

It's possible to post a theory without flooding a thread with the theories and gettig agro when people disagree.

Re: Plane missing with 236 people on board

OK heres another theory - a serious one this time.

It now appears possible that the plane flew for four hours after 'disappearing. I recently watched an episode of Air Crash Investigations called Ghost plane, in which a commercial jet flew for hours before crashing with passengers unconscious or dead after the pressurization regulating switch was accidentally left on manual instead of automatic after a routine inspection.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-409703/Ghost-flight-horror-crash-blamed-pilots.html

There was a similar incident of a 'ghost plane' from WA that crashed near Burketown in Queensland

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Australia_Beechcraft_King_Air_crash

Could something similar have happened to flight 370?

Re: Plane missing with 236 people on board

They are now saying i tmay well have  crashed into the Indian Ocean, so I suppose  there is also a possibility that the plane was hijacked and ordered to fly to a destination for which it didn't have enough fuel, like the Ethiopean Airlines plane in 1996.

I suspect, far from being engaged in a conspiracy, the Malaysian Authorities are as baffled as the general public and running around like healdess chooks, grabbing at any snippet of information they are offered

"Could something similar have happened to flight 370?"

In my opinion  TGSE,  no.

The aircraft had reached cruising altitude before its last position report (35,000 feet). At this altitude you can remain conscious after a sudden decompression for around 30 seconds, but  the aircraft would have been climbing for some time to that altitude and would have passed the level at at which you become affected by low/loss of cabin pressure, quite a time earlier.

There are a few cabin altitude warning indicators in the cockpit, and in the passenger compartment  02 masks automatically deploy if the pressure drops below  a set altitude (14,000 feet).

So the cabin pressure was OK  at the last position report (normal) .

The flight you mentioned  was strange in that everything was overlooked by the pilots.

As part of my jet training  the course I was on were required to  sit in a decompression chamber and undergo anoxia runs so that we would recognise the symptoms.

I do agree with you apropos "the Malaysian Authorities are as baffled as the general public and running around like healdess chooks, grabbing at any snippet of information they are offered"

It is just a pity that a basically  uninformed media are promulgating aeronautical rubbish to a less knowledgeable audience, and  now the conspiracy nuts, who know even less,  (P007),   are jumping on their keyboards to broadcast  their particular brand of  conspiracy rubbish.

Is it possible that "face" is  possibly restricting  the choice of those most capable to conduct SAR procedures of this magnitude / difficulty?

Not only possible but probable I suspect.

MM and sheheffalump: who appear to have a conspiracy theory of their own, that the Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation team is "possibly restricting  the choice of those most capable to conduct (Sea) Search And Rescue procedures of this magnitude / difficulty?"

Hey! where's the empathy?.....posting such rubbish may not be tolerated....where's your links?....where's your proof?

....not a scientific analogy at all!.......brainless banter etc etc etc

seriously this is prob closer to the truth:

Busted! Flight Radar Caught Changing Flight Path of Malaysia Flight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNZtz-HVy6c

..."Well....we know that regularly schedule commercial aircraft cannot make any changes to their flight path nor altitude without full knowledge and control of ATC. That 10,000 - 11,000 feet sudden altitude change on an assigned Airway would have raised a dozen red flags....(a cockpit fight?..temporary loss of control pitching aircraft up to 49,000 ft )....and likely resulted in scrambled jets to tail it to find out why....and if the false passport holders got control of the aircraft by subduing the crew....and neutralizing the crew,  and then turning off the transponder and communications....you can bet the military of someone's nation went up for a closer look... Just a bit of post 911 conjecture here and a hard pill to swallow....but if terrorism was on board heading for China? Veitnam?.... you can bet no country is going to admit they may have had to shoot down one of their own ...!?And then erase it off the radar?..."

......"The other craft was MILFLT007 and it safely landed on aircraft carrier....."

Reply #95..."It was shot down plain and simple. As soon as the trailing "boogie" let it's "birds fly" and received that it got a confirmed hit, it turned off it's APX-72 IFF Transponder and POOF! Disappeared. <----- retired US military tactical air controller

so what is/was the standard of radio frequency that this particular ULB in this particular missing plane was set to transmit on ?

It was 37.5 kHz - the official transmitting frequency for ALL civil aviation black box ULBs.

Re: Plane missing with 236 people on board

If you consider my comments P007 you might realise that there is a difference between not  asking for full management and technical assistance due to cultural and social differences, and a bunch/group of allegedly evil people deliberately impeding and misdirecting S&R effort as your silly current conspiracy goes.

"so what is/was the standard of radio frequency that this particular ULB in this particular missing plane was set to transmit on ?"
If you knew anything about the equipment in question you would know that it operates  at  audio frequency (ultrasonic) not radio frequency.

If you understood anything about the equipment in question you would know that a 37.5KHz ULB  has a detection range of around 2-3 Km maximum, thus your repeated comment: "Under Water Beacon (ULB) can emit a signal for  hundreds of miles" is nonsense.   You also later amazingly post some valid but vastly different range information : "Once active, the Dukane DK120 emits a pulse once a second that can be detected by sonar equipment up to two nautical miles away.
Which one is it P007?

I will assist, the hundreds of miles  will relate to an ELB which is a floating Emergency Locator Beacon (also ELT) which transmits on a radio frequency  UHF 406 MHz. (also 121.5Mhz but with a range of a few miles only)

"(a cockpit fight?..temporary loss of control pitching aircraft up to 49,000 ft )" ????? The B777 has a maximum ceiling of just over 43,000 feet

I still wish to know P007 why you think it is easy to locate a ULB , when they have a very limited detection range

As for this "Busted! Flight Radar Caught Changing Flight Path of Malaysia Flight" Having a good knowledge of, and experience operating, ATC radar systems military and civilian, that is pure conspiracy nonsense. So how would it be achieved, love to know. And of course all this was managed in a day or two in complete secrecy from all who would be necessary,  and so far no one else has noticed this "information"

But wait, if you are evil and wish to disappear a plane, why do it so the nuts will notice, just like chemtrailing in broad daylight with high flying evil aircraft above one's head
I feel another conspiracy  is now ripe for the disclosing.
