Plane missing with 236 people on board

Malaysia Airlines says one of its planes has gone missing on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

A statement from the airline says flight MH370 lost contact with air traffic controllers at 2:40am local time, just over two hours into the flight.

The plane, a Boeing 777-200, left Kuala Lumpur at 12:41am on Saturday, and had been due to arrive in Beijing at 6:30am local time.

The company says the plane was carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members.

The airline says it is contacting the next-of-kin of all passengers and crew, which includes people of 13 different nationalities.

In a statement on the airline's website, group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the airline was working with authorities to locate the aircraft.

"Focus of the airline is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilise its full support," the statement said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members."

The airline says it will provide regular updates on its website.

The ABC understand Malaysia Airlines will hold a press conference on the incident shortly.

And there. in a nutshell we have it - the full depth of the scientific argument you are putting forward.

"Satellites and aircraft have spotted numerous floating objects, but none have been confirmed as wreckage from the plane."

However compelling the evidence may be ,basic common sense dictates that they will not be confirmed one way or another until they have been retrieved and examined.

And in fact one or two pieces (out of 300 or so already spotted)  have been retrieved and confirmed as NOT being from the plane.

Hi She el. I've been wondering something.

I thinks it's funny, but at the same time mean that paintsahuffing Man Wink  calls you sheheffalump. I laugh at the part where you respond to being addressed that way, but then think what if it hurts your feelings.

I know you'll say it don't....but I still think it's mean.

Thanks (sincerely) for your concern, Jimmy. ButI I really am impervious to silly name calling, Let's not forget, Pooh and Piglet spent many a happy hour making heffalump traps - but as far as I know they never managed to catch one.  Smiley LOL

I knew you'd say that She el. 🙂

I had to google it just now....

A Heffalump is a type of fictional elephant in the Winnie the Pooh stories by A. A. Milne. Heffalumps are mentioned, but never appear, in Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner.

That's weird having a character mentioned but not appear.

replying to Jimmy.......the term 'heffalump' is as a term of endearment, nothing else. As a child my Mother used to call an elephant a heffalump!Smiley Happy

Heffalump

Fictional Character

The code named Kennan "Keyhole-class" (KH) reconnaissance satellites have been orbiting the Earth for more than 30 years. They are typically used to take overhead photos for military missions. The big question for a lot of people is: "What can they see?"

but it is known that there are several of these overhead at any given time. They have an imaging resolution of 5-6 inches, which means they can see something 5 inches or larger on the ground.

so makes me wonder why 'they' are taking pics with one of these:

.........and then sending in ships apparently only equipped with radar  to locate 'credible' debris?

Why are you assuming that the images provided to the media are of the same quality and clarity as the ones being used by those co-ordinating the search?

I'm not sure why you'd think I'd want to see that...or anything you have to say on this subject. I'm not saying that to be rude, but the fact is....

You have an obvious agenda of making every catastrophe a conspiracy committed by the US...stretching logic and reason way past the breaking point.

Good day Sir! 🙂
