Malaysia Airlines says one of its planes has gone missing on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.
A statement from the airline says flight MH370 lost contact with air traffic controllers at 2:40am local time, just over two hours into the flight.
The plane, a Boeing 777-200, left Kuala Lumpur at 12:41am on Saturday, and had been due to arrive in Beijing at 6:30am local time.
The company says the plane was carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members.
The airline says it is contacting the next-of-kin of all passengers and crew, which includes people of 13 different nationalities.
In a statement on the airline's website, group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the airline was working with authorities to locate the aircraft.
"Focus of the airline is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilise its full support," the statement said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members."
The airline says it will provide regular updates on its website.
The ABC understand Malaysia Airlines will hold a press conference on the incident shortly.

No.I do not have any agenda. The facts speak for themselves, everytime.
Any reasonable human being can see that there is something dark about this whole affair.
For a plane to be be reported that it has been 'disappeared' is absolute rot. No plane in this day and age can disappear as satellites-over 200 of them are tracking 24/7. Boeing would know exactly what happened to this plane-so why the apparent cover up?
There would be more than one nation involved in this-not just the US.
Every catastrophe?....now this is just being ridiculous!
Just because I question mainstream media is no reason to go around labelling me a conspiracy nut, besides a good fairy tale always has a morale behind it and usually a happy ending.....there's none here just more BS the further we travel in and examine.
Several of the posters here have a group agenda- ridiculing any questioning of the main stream propoganda on this issue!
When did questioning the sequence of events become a crime?
Boeing use potatoes for all sorts of things!

There is a very good article in today's West Australian, dealing with this: the writer suggests three dark aspects of the affair: Incompetence, embarrassment, and mutual distrust between some of the nations involved.
Strangely, it makes no mention of a massive global cover-up conspiracy involving Boeing, US, Malaysia, Australia, France, China and every other country supplying data or assisting in the search.
Could the West Australian and its journalists - along with all the other mainstream media - be a part of this global conspiracy?

If there were a conspiracy afoot, the conspirators would surely not notify the newspapers, and certainly not an insignificant little regional newspaper like the West Australian, methinks.

If the truth is so obvious to Paints - then surely it must be equally obvious to journalists who are trained to see through lies and deception - were journalists given official notification of the Watergate Affair, before they exposed it?
Clearly, in this case, respected investigative journalists- not simply from an 'insignificant, little, regional paper', but from major medai outlets both here and in the US - must either be willing parties to this massive conspiracy of silence, or they have all somehow been coerced into remaning silent. The only other possiblity is that there is in fact no conspiracy to expose.
Which do you think is the more likely?

You don't have to coerce journalists, you just give them conflicting/confusing information.
They in turn give conflicting information to the public. Which has been a hallmark of this whole missing aircraft case.

............................................................................................................................................................................................................
Often the journos know exactly what is going on.......what gets printed is what is 'approved' by a newspaper Editor/s.
....what gets 'approved' is what is deemed in the best interests of XY and Z.
Having said this, it does happen where journos are 'encouraged'....and it is knowledge that they get threats.
The West Australian ?.....have not bought one for over 25 years!!..... investors.... vested interests.....

So all these experienced journalists have fallen hook, line and sinker for a farrago: ( noun =.a confused mixture) of lies which, however have fooled neither you nor Paints, nor (in her words) any reasonable human being?

who really knows, She-el?
It doesn't have to be a "farrago" of lies.
It could be a "farrago" of fact, conjecture, concealment, misdirection, disinformation and plain old befuddlement.
