Plane missing with 236 people on board

Malaysia Airlines says one of its planes has gone missing on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

A statement from the airline says flight MH370 lost contact with air traffic controllers at 2:40am local time, just over two hours into the flight.

The plane, a Boeing 777-200, left Kuala Lumpur at 12:41am on Saturday, and had been due to arrive in Beijing at 6:30am local time.

The company says the plane was carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members.

The airline says it is contacting the next-of-kin of all passengers and crew, which includes people of 13 different nationalities.

In a statement on the airline's website, group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the airline was working with authorities to locate the aircraft.

"Focus of the airline is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilise its full support," the statement said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members."

The airline says it will provide regular updates on its website.

The ABC understand Malaysia Airlines will hold a press conference on the incident shortly.

It's all been smoke and mirrors from the beginning.

'they' have the knowledge of where the plane is so they can divert all attention away from the truth-to cover the truth.

We should all be asking WHY?............and where would be good too.

I have as much right to discuss this tragic affair of this missing flight MH370 and all on board as anyone.

I have Chinese relatives, we all want to know the truth and so far all we see is lies, diversions and cover ups happening.

Kuala Lumpur (AFP) - Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim accused the government of hiding information on Flight MH370, as a black-box detector was expected Friday in the search zone nearly a month after the plane vanished.

Anwar said he was "baffled" over the Malaysian military's failure to respond despite detecting the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crossing back over the country's airspace following its mysterious detour.

"Unfortunately the manner in which this was handled after the first few days was clearly suspect," Anwar said in an interview with Britain's Daily Telegraph.

"One fact remains. Clearly information critical to our understanding is deemed missing. I believe the government knows more than us."

yes icy.....and I believe (....and remember, i don't believe in much-but I really do believe in this instance) that the Malaysian Military and 'other' nations' militiary/militaries know what's what ref 'missing/disappearing' of Flight MH370 and all onboard.

Malaysia air force shot down hijacked ‪#MH370, navy cleared up debris/black box for 4 days, lies, diversions, cover up since then.

...... why did Malaysia keep helpers searching East sea for 4 days when they knew ‪#MH370 had turned back & was heading for the Straits?

The search area kept on increasing ,being almost the size of North America, with the images being released of a possible debris by the Australians , the Chinese and finally the French.

Hishammuddin is the top military man in Malaysia, the boss of air force & navy. Only he could order the shoot down of ‪#MH370.
