Does anyone know what plant this is please? the leaves are abt 5cm long and maybe 2cm wide, silver/green on one side, and purple on the other. I know it's fairly common but want to know its name and what sort of care it needs.

Ta Tazz, but I think the cat might object to it.
We used to paint the new fence with sump oil when we were kids, to preserve the timber.
Thought it was great fun.
Boy were we stupid.

If a bit drops off that hanging basket outside, the cause is lost.
I don't have a garden Stawks, just a small paved courtyard with no soil, so I rely on hanging baskets. This little sucker will do the job nicely and I can propogate from it.

It will propogate quite well all by itself without any help from you bright.
When I moved into this house 47 years ago there was a small rock garden at the foot of the back steps which contained a small plant of the all purple variety of Wandering Dew. It was not a very prolific grower, unlike the common green one which was running riot in the side garden so I left it for the time being as it was pretty and filled a gap in the garden.
As my daughter got older she took a dislike to the plant and every time it grew close enough for her to grab it she pulled a bit of it out.
My daughter is now 47 and still pulls it out when she sees it....and it is still growing happily in my rock garden.

That sucker doesn't need soil.
It grows in the air quite nicely. No water, no soil, no love.
Have I mentioned how much I hate it?
