My Miss got pulled over today cause the policeman said he saw her head look down.

As for switching off her driving (fog) lights, that was yet another good gesture on his part, instead of fining her for contravention of Australian Road Rule 217.
Add that to the fail to display P plate, I think she should be thanking her lucky stars.

That was an act of kindness, as it is illegal to drive in built-up areas with fog/driving lights switched on unnecessarily. The fine's about $187, too!
In SA it's $218 + $60 victims of crime levy.
Yes, I have an opinion. No you don't have to agree with it. Yes I do have a right to it.

Who the hell is the 'victim' in the case of driving with undipped lights, I wonder? Sounds like the poor bloody driver who has to cough up the extra $60; that's who.

The oncoming driver/s dazzled by the undipped lights who then go on to crash into a stobie pole or parked car or some other solid object maybe?

Without knowing exactly how and where those funds are being spent, it sounds to me like yet another excuse to extract money from our already long-suffering motorists.
It's not unlike Queensland where traffic fines go straight into consolidated revenue instead of being spent saving lives by improving our constantly deteriorating roads.
Sounds to me like different states, but the same revenue-raising policies. ๐

Yep, every infringement notice carries the $60 levy, even if the fine itself is less than $60. Goes into a "fund" which is supposedly kept separate from general revenue, but recent reports say it has a healthy, growing balance, with very few payments made from it. One wonders if it's earning some decent interest and where that goes?

Very little of which are being made. Many victims have referred to my ol mate Leon that they get dribs and drabs as offenders are able to pay "compensation" on a pay it off basis to the courts. I'd have thought the fund would be there to pay it, and anything courts can recover from offenders would then go back into it.
