The independent Remuneration Tribunal determined the two per cent pay rise, the first in 18 months, for all federal MPs - including the Labor opposition.

Fresh penalty rate cuts took effect on Sunday and the changes are estimated to affect 700,000 workers across Australia.
So they are increasing the pay to rich politicians who will bank most of that increase and taking it away from
workers that spend most of their money,(and they wonder why we have that debt).
They must be the most selfish "people" on the planet as they are like give us a pay rise so we can put this country further into debt
but that's fine it wont affect them as their pay is guaranteed even when they "retire".
