Re: Pregnancy

Would you suggest zero population growth or a limited population growth?

The nuts were really nice.  Shame you got a bad batch.  The Brazil nuts are a little bit hard to get out of the shell but the walnuts and almonds and hazelnuts are great.

Is that at me?

I was trying to make a contribution. Zero population growth would cure the disease, but is not practical. Who would look after the elderly ? What happens when the population becomes static or declines.

Tsk tsk, do I detect a modicum of animosity?

hhmmm actually i would like a negative population growth. like 1.2 children/woman.

we live on a planet. there is FINITE arable land, there are FINITE resources. we can NOT expand and "grow the economy" forever. it just does not work like that.

unless we find another planet with an incredible amount of resources very close to earth ( which there isn't) we can not maintain growth without wiping out ourselves.

Re: Pregnancy

I've only known three people on the boards that chose not to procreate (one of them you) and in my mind that is a good thing as they would all be totally unable to put someone else first and themselves as a mother or father or care taker.  Self selection at it's best.

na, i was talking to poddy.

the elderly will be our least problem. geez it's gov propaganda. we can NOT grow the economy indefinetely because we live on a FINITE space (our planet). it's just not possible.

we have already reached the limit long time ago. the planet is dying.
