as some know my printer died about a week ago
it was a canon ip7260
had lasted many years beyond its warranty
did a great job
including having the ability to print onto cd/dvd discs
so i have been searching through dozens of different printers from different companys
no simple task
they all have their own ideas on how to display their range
but now i have a possible winner as a replacement as canon no longer sell the ip7260 even though their web site says they do??
getting information from their 'customer' service was less than great
the possibly indian person who answered the phone was more interested in my 'details' than just answering my simple question
"is the ip7260 still in production and if not is there a new version"
he left me on hold for some time before returning to say
"yes, its still available, but they no longer sell to the public." gave me a phone number to call, for a shop in melbourne
so i call this shop and get a very helpful gentleman, who tells me 'that models discontinued'
and theres no other replacment as far as he knows.
so i went on the search
not much on offer in my price range, under $200
most are black ink with a tri color ink cartridge (i wan seperate, 5 preferred)
only 1 can i find that has 5 tanks + cd/dvd printing
the Epson XP-6100
prices range from $135 to $180
but, theres allways a but
its out of stock...everywhere
so i will watch and wait
no hurry as my cheap fill in will do the job until i find what i need

David, try Bing Lee - $139 - available on order.
Does take a bit of time but if it is a popular model - you'll be inline.

It says a 55 odd day wait - on pre-order.
I didn't read the lot - do you have to pay the whole up front. ????
Or just a deposit till available.

It seems the last 12 months with all going on - we are finally getting to the stage where things are becoming scarce.
With so few flights - imports are drying up.
DD tried to get jeans - no luck.
Even when ordering furniture for her new apartment - there was something like a 17 week wait.

I wanted a saw bench to chop up firewood. The most popular model has a 5 - 6 month waiting period for possible delivery. Its no use in the middle of winter when the wood is all wet, so I paid $50 ABOVE new price to purchase one that had been assembled but never used at a farm clearing sale.
Other new equipment such as tractors are now very hard to find and low hours used equipment is selling for new price or more.

Not sure if you realise most things come by boat , its really only time sensitive items or mail that goes by air.

LOL - as I said - at present - they are few and far between these days.
The countries sending these items are also dealing with Covid - manufacture has suffered - ETC ETC ETC.

Maybe popular items are suffering more so than others. I have read new cars are sufferning but that was due to cars needing computer chips and not wanting to pay as much as other manufacturers so they have missed out.
