Halal labelling withdrawn in Sri Lanka

I wonder if the monks were accused of being racist, bigots and having "islamaphobia"
Why on earth would anyone in Australia want to spend time and energy wondering about something as pointless as that?
For the same reason someone would want to spend time and energy responding to a post about something they find pointless, I suppose.

To be frank, I find it outrageous that some of my grocery spending could go to propagating a religion
What about Sanitarium? where does he think the profits from corn flakes goes?

but it answers the repeated questioning here about
not understanding why some people are against
halal food so why not take that information as an
explanation? (not saying you should agree with it of course)
from the link:
The monks argue that Buddhists should not be forced to consume food that is prepared according to Islamic rites, saying it demonstrates the undue influence of Muslims in Sri Lanka.

That's the exact same article as the one you posted a few posts back.

George Christensen might need to speak to the relevant authorities if he has some proof or suspicions about the $.
Until then, it is all in his head.

I've just had a brilliant idea for all those paranoid concerned about eating halal certified food. If your estimate of the number of Australians who agree with you is correct then this could open up a whole new career for you and make you very rich.
Why not set up your very own haram cetification board. Producers could pay to have their products certified unfit for consumption by Muslims. For this fee your inspectors would certify that all cattle, sheep, chickens etc. are dead for at least two hours before being processed dairy foods could have a miniscule amount of pork fat added to them and all certified potato chips. and nachos would be bacon flavoured. A neat little label - maybe a pigs head on a stick - would then be affixed to each product.
Naturally these products would cost a bit more, and some Jewish people might be upset to discover they could no longer eat their favourite brand of chocolate, but hey, what's a little collateral damage when you are on a crusade and think of the peace of mind you will get from knowing no Muslim lips will ever profane your barbecue steaks, ice cream or nibblies
