Little Crikey got her first real job.
McDonalds employs you from 14 years 3 months - 12 hours a week. $8 to $10 an hour.(I think that's pretty good, that a 14 year old gets that much an hour)
Little Crikey hit 14/3 a few days ago, and yesterday Maccas sent her a job offer.
She's soooo excited - both her brothers applied in the past and they never got an offer, so she's feeling pretty special and pleased with herself.
She had an interview last Thursday
Got the offer yesterday, now she has orientation on Friday and some training course that will teach her how to lift (I assume there is more to it than that LOL - but that's all she told me), and get uniforms fitted etc.and will get shifts (minimum 3 hours) the following week.
A really good thing is she got the job at the maccas just up the road from us - so nice and close.

Well done to Miss Crikey and her support team. And being close to home is a blessing for the parent who would go to and fro taking/picking her up from work.
When I used to employ juniors, anyone who had worked at Macca's, got considered first due to the training they received.
One thing, though, should she ever take orders in the Drive Thru, speak slowly and clearly. Not like a tape recorder on cockatoo-fast-speed.
Again, congrats.

yes, it is close enough she can walk in the day time - so very good for mummy
and i have heard that their training program is highly regarded, so I was a bit pleased about that - hopefully it will equip her with transferrable skills and make her desireable to more employers in the future if she chiooses a different path. So I'm thinking it is a pretty striong starting p9oint at least. And it is a stable company, so her employment should be safe. It all just comes down to her and her ability to work now. It's up to her. There should be no reason for her to lose the job unless she doesn't do her job to their satisfaction. The job is filled with opportunities and potential, good working conditions etc too, so lets just hope she is suitable and that she makes the most of the opportunity that she has been given.

Maccas is good.
Just give her some tips on handling sexism in the workplace before she starts. She;s so young and even if she is confident and outspoken, at that age they often don't know how to handle stupidity like sexism.

Congratulations.
r.e. The lifting, it is crucial she takes that on board. Brother in law did his back in moving boxes at his first job at McDonald's. Life of pain since. No training back then for that.
