Sorry Meep but I'm not sure there could be any comparison between the 2 shows.
Gillard on Q&A answered the questions put to her directly and with no spin and no finger pointing (she didn't mention the opposition or the opposition leader once). She never made any comments along the lines of "when I am re-elected" or any other "me, my, I, our" statements. She brought up policies in direct relation to the questions asked and the language she used was incredibly appropriate to the age group represented. There was absolutely no spin whatsoever.
On the other hand, every question Abbott answered was all about demonising Gillard. So much so that 45mins in, someone prefaced their question with "With all due respect, if you could concentrate on your policies rather than how bad the carbon tax is I would really appreciate that." and everyone clapped (it was the only time the audience actually clapped in the middle of the forum).
And many of his answers just didn't relate to the question cause he was so focused on bringing it back to the carbon tax or 'illegal' refugees even without a context. He often talked about the 'changes' that would occur under his govt but then failed to follow up with what the changes would be. He just keep saying "there is more we will say. But we will release the information later...". If I was in the audience I would have been screaming out "WHEN???!"
It was absolute spin with no substance or committment.
