RM Williams bought by Australian mining tycoon Andrew 'Twiggy' Forrest
i have a pair of R M Williams boots i bought when i was 19, that makes em about 40 years old
they cost me $70 with a discount my father got through his job
today the same boots are over $400 (they still make them)
mine are like new mainly because i bought them for special ocasions like going to weddings (obviously not mine)
so they have only ever been worn a few times
plus my feet grew so they wont fit now
my mother actually worked at the factory when she first joined the workforce, met RM many times.

If Australian companies stopped selling out to overseas companies, there wouldn't be any need to buy 'our' brands back.
I remember when the Arnott's family were complaining about 'their' company being sold out from under them. Maybe if they hadn't relinquished control in exchange for money it wouldn't have happened. Same with RM Williams.
Ugg is different. An American company patented the name, without buying any company, which the Supreme Court said wasn't relevant in Australia, as it is a generic term not a brand. Unfortunately, the US being the US, the patent is recognised in most of the rest of the world.

Who's Eric?
And if that's all you've got, why did you bother posting at all?
