My rabbit keeps pooing in his food bowl.
We've had awful rain in Sydney and his litter tray filled with water while I was at work. I cleaned it and noticed he hardly used it for a couple of days.
But when I went to replace his food last night, he had been using that instead to poo in. So I replaced his food bowl last night with a clean bowl (thinking the scent might keep him doing it) but this morning was the same.
Any suggestions?
His food bowl is in his hutch and I can't put it elsewhere because the birds eat it all. His litter tray is outside under an awning same spot as it's always in.

martini maybe he just doesn't want to go out of his hutch if its been raining or cold. Can you move his food bowl to the other end of the hutch to break his habit of using it for the wrong thing?

you can wire the food bowl up high so he can't get in and poop in it but can feed from it...

He's probably sitting in the bowl coz it's warm or something. Once they claim a poo spot they are hard to talk out of it. maybe remove the bowl for a few days and put his food on paper. They tend to sit in the poo spot for a while. not hop in do it and hop out.

Take him to an animal psychologist... he has issues that need addressing.

Maybe he's trying to tell you his dinner's carp? 😛

If there is room put the litter box inside the hutch and the food outside, cover part of the hutch with tarpaulin or something to make it weather proof and see if that makes a diff.

My aged bunny died last year, but rabbit's poo in the same spo, over and overt. You can train them to poo where you want them to by taking some of their poo pellets and placing in the spot where you want them to poo.
