Remove roadside trees.

Another two young kids die by hitting a roadside tree:

http://www.mamamia.com.au/two-boys-die-in-altona-crash/

Isn't it about time that roadside trees are removed?

The amount of times I've heard people dying by hitting a roadside tree is ludicrous.

This is one simple thing to reduce the road toll,(the added benifit is that they could sell them for firewood).

Travelling from Katamatite to Shepparton is a nightmare as you are always looking at branches that overhang

the road and when it rains you watch the dead trees in case they topple,(that's apart from the big roadside

trees that will kill anyone that hits them).

Someone will die because of those trees,(most are Gum trees and one given with Gum trees is that sooner

or later they will drop their branches).

Report them and you get a thank you and that's it.

Nothing gets done until a branch or a tree falls and then it's just cleaned up,(once it's cleaned up there is no

sign that it ever happened),stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

Remove roadside trees.

The root of the problem lies not with the

actual trees , but the type of trees

planted by the roadside.

Whilst eucalypts are native and

Very koala friendly, unfortunately

the same can not be said for

motorists. The most unpredictable

When it comes to falling branches,

Which can snap off and fall with little

Or no warning.

Might I suggest lining all major

Thoroughfares with rubber trees,

Making tyres cheaper and cushioning

The impact of an accident.

Oops there goes another rubber tree

My suggestion is for drivers to take notice of the road conditions and to modify their driving habits accordingly.

When it's wet and slippery; slow down.

When there are mischeivous and nasty trees just waitning to pounce on an unsuspecting motorist as they drive by; then just slow down.

When the driving conditions are manifestly dangerous or unsafe, maybe even because of a lack of road maintainance, then just slow down.

A slower driving speed gives the driver more time in which to react to dangers.

Those drivers who ignore the good advice to slow down are still doing a sort of community service; they are providing jobs and business in Australia's funeral industry.

Everyone's a winner?

Happy new year  oppie Smiley Very Happy

It's the "build a fence around it" mentality It's now got to the stage that they are showing a BBQ and before the food is actually served they are sticking a thermometer in it to protect us from illness.

People should take responsibility for their own actions and not blame every bad thing that happens to them on someone else or some inanimate tree. Don't want to die hitting a tree, pay attention, less speed, no alcohol.

Gum trees don't have to be at the end of their life.

Perfectly healthy Gum trees can/will drop their brances at any time,(that's why they have the nickname

of being widow makers),stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

We were playing golf and heard a loud crack and saw a "healthy" branch from one of the tree near the hole

just break off for no apparent reason,(it measured nearly a metre thick and was over 8 metres long).

The weight of that would've crushed a car and it would've being like hitting a brick wall if they drove

into it,(that's why a gum tree that's close to a road and which has branches overhanging the road is so

dangerous).

We see broken branches from gum trees on a regular basis and the ground staff spend a lot of time clearing

them,(there have even been times where an entire tree has just fallen over).

Everyday all around the world... trees are taring down powerlines and falling on people, cars, houses. Animals use them to get into your attic and chew on your wiring and cause all sorts of problems.

Trees are also the number one cause of forrest fires.

Bushes are the answer. They never cause trouble! If you're out and about with no bathroom in site...a bush is your friend. You can even sleep in a bush, try that in a tree...very dangerous! Crash into bushes..no problem, just a few branches in your grill.

Not to mention those days before you owned a car with a back seat...Sally, in the bushes! I still remember my first time in a bush. Great memories!

Blueberry bushes Jimmy.

Then if you break down on the highway,

While your OH is fixing the tyre you can spend

A sweet hour picking blueberries and a breakdown

Becomes a joyous, memorable occasion.

Healthy too.

So everytime you go on a long trip don't forget to

Pack a nice basket for the blueberries.

Could even have State boundaries.

Welcome to SA the blueberry state or Victoria

The raspberry state.

See what I mean about bushes...2 positive responses in a row. No one argues about bushes, they have a calming effect.

Plus, a few bushes can produce as much oxygen as a tree, maybe more. Mine are green year round, unlike trees.

Every year trees drop leaves all over my lawn. What's their problem? Do they want the leaves or not?

Very messy. Then an army of landscapers have to come through with those noisey leaf blowers...I hate them!

Then you have to bag them up on take up space in a landfill, or burn them. More greenhouse gasses.

Bushes are quiet.

Thank you.
