I just love it that we can embed videos here. I don't get why it's such a big problem on the challenge.

It could prove to be a load on the servers that host this board, especially when everyone starts dropping their tunes.

I'm certain that was the original reason.

I remember way back when, on photo threads, page loads bogged down like mad!

Of course, it's not the eBay community servers actually serving the embedded content these days, so...

This was discussed at some length back in June last year on the thread link below, and it was decided to make the music challenge threads text only. You'll notice that as you scroll through the thread the embeds do tend to clog up the display, even on my quite fast desktop PC. Apparently it particularly affects those using mobile devices. It seems that photos on the photo threads don't cause the same amount of delay (provided there aren't too many uncompressed large pics).

Thanks Baybizz. I just checked on my iPhone and you are quite right. Some of the videos don't seem to load properly. I don't get much of a problem with the photo thread except of course with the 3mg photos. When my internet is shaped and I lose speed I can't look at image threads full stop.
