How is it these places arnt classed as sacred sites and digging them up is desecrating them?

They are only rock shelters David.   It is the same as archaeologists digging up Roman villas in the UK or Greek villas from ancient times.

If anything, it is in the interests of the indigenous people.....instead of believeing the are was inhabited 20,000 years ago it is now being proved that they were ther 40,000 years ago.

It is being done with the full knowledge of the indigenous inhabitants of the area....if there is anything sensitive there they will soon say so.

It seems as soon as you mention the word indiginous to some people, everything is sacred. They can dig up my lounge room in 40,000 years time. I dont care.
