Round Table Revisited

And so Lord of the String said unto the peoples, "Go forth anew. Seek a land you can call your own."

The people saw it was good.

So, on the last day the people said their solemn goodbyes and began the long journey to the promised new land.

And so began the new land and its people were joyous!

Welcome, to the Return of the Round Table known as...

"Round Table Revisited" (RTR)

Re: Round Table Revisited

Morning everyone. Prim, you haven't had much of a summer at all have you? I'd love to share ours.

No smoke this morning Deb but it usually hits in the afternoon.  I think it is something to do with the weather conditions but I don't really understand it.

I think I will get out today. Beats housework.

Re: Round Table Revisited

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

We had a great few days away.............no too many pictures though...........I put the camera in the bottom of the bag and that is where it stayed until yesterday.

We drove back down the East Coast and I have to say it has some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.

We stopped off for a walk along a beach that was gorgeous...............we had got caught behind a drunk driver...........well I think he was drunk.............he was all over the road.................I hope he (and everyone he drove near) made it home.

Where we stayed in St Helens was interesting...............about 11pm the smoke alarm batteries decided they were all flat and started beeping......................and we could not stop them...................so I rang the person who owns the place but she was in Hobart............(oh the irony)

There was nothing we could do to stop these darn things...............and I was a bit cranky about it all............we had paid a bit to stay somewhere nice and I had visions of being awake all night listening to beeping..........(and no doubt hubby snoring...........as he sleeps through anything)

Hubby decided to see if there was anyone awake in the nearby caravan park............so off he went with his torch........(no street lights where we were)

He comes back with 2 9 volt batteries........................(Yay!.................finally.)..........hubby had found an after hours number on the kiosk...........and rang it and explained what was going on......................and thank goodness he opened up the kiosk and sold us two batteries.

The owner was so sorry about all the hassles we had she has given us a few nights free to stay again any time we want.

Re: Round Table Revisited

Hi Flashie. We missed you!  I'm glad you had a good holiday albeit the smoke alarm drama.  I hope you get to take those extra days again soon.

How was your own house. Not trashed? No broken windows where they locked each other out? Plenty of dishes in the sink? LOL

Re: Round Table Revisited

No one seemed to have got locked out............but just in case I let spare keys with our other daughters.

I also paid our grand daughter to come around and wash up for us before we got home...........(she needs to earn 160 to fix her ipad screen)

We wont mention anything about what the bathroom looked like after 4 days though..........

Re: Round Table Revisited

Good morning Stringsters

Welcome back Flashie. It seems you stayed at a very nice spot, shame about the alarm.

The worrying part about that is that it seems the batteries in the fire alarm at that place are not checked annually. If the batteries wore out at a time no one was renting the place and therefore no one was aware they were dead, there would be no fire alarm protection for future renters and they would not know it.

Off to work for me. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Round Table Revisited

morning all

at our rental house we pay someone to check the smoke alarms/batteries every year. i think it is law  here. Nothing worse than beep, beep beep through the night.

on our nightly walk ws this week , we;ve watched the progress of two more lovely old homes being pulled down to make way for yet more units or apartments. They stood there, well cared for , for over a hundered years and it's only taken a few days to reduce them to a pile of rubber They just ripped into the beautiful fretwork on the verandas and the leadlight windows, nothing saved at all.

it's happening way too much around here Smiley Sad

Re: Round Table Revisited

Morning everyone.

I bet that broke your heart watching that demolition Deb. Were they not heritage listed? They should have at least offered for sale some of the materials. Floor boards, leadlights and fretwork.  That's almost a crime.

For the past couple of days I've been listening to crashing and banging going on in the street and yesterday when I drove to get petrol I noticed one of my favourite places here is being demolished.  A lovely cottage with cedar boards and native gardens.  I have been inside and it was a cosy little home and it had a nice dettached granny flat out the back.  All gone.

Slightly cooler day today. 33 and the chance of some rain this afternoon.  I hope so.

Re: Round Table Revisited

I have finally caught up on all my work..................both house work and paid work.............yay!

Our grand daughter was elelcted house captain at school today............I am thrilled for her...........she is a gentle girl and I hope the leadership role will give her some confidence.

Our grandson said she won the vote because he voted for her.
