It's a very nice piece of furniture Deb.
I have made up my mind that when i retire, will will sell off all my 'antiques' (early Australian style) and go very modern with light colours and as little of it as will contain my 'stuff'.
It will be a bit of an adventure but I am looking forward to it.

I think Prim that a lot of people are already doing that. For us though, the old furniture suits the house, the modern white just wouldn't work here. If we were to ever move though, we would have o reconsider.. But we would probably downsize to a smaller old house lol

True Deb.
Ours was gathered when we lived in a Federation home and it does not really suit here but I only want to change once, so when we retire and move is when I will change the furniture. The only thing I will miss is the cocktail cabinet with bowed glass and lift up lid. I love it but it will never fit where we intend to go.

When we were kids we had a piano in our loungeroom................it was a huge house.
Dad decided to block the second door to the hall from the loungeroom.
Later after Mum died he wanted to rid of the piano but there was no door that it could fit through anymore...........so he smashed the piano.
I kind of wish he hadn't.............but now I am older I understand a bit better why.
We all used to sit around the piano on Saturday nights and Mum would sing while Dad played.........often Aunties and Uncles would come around too.
And when Dad had a whisky or two.........(probably three or four ...........or more)............he would get our his bagpipes..........and we would all groan.

Not only are they big, they are also very heavy.
one of my brothers in law was a piper in the police band.... He still has and plays his bagpipes, I haven't heard him play for awhile though

You should have told him the old joke:
Q) Why do Scotsmen march up and down when they play the bagpipes?
A) Because it's harder to hit a moving target.

I don't think anyone would want it flashie, it looks great, it's a French piano but it has a timber frame which goes out of tune very quickly. It's the iron framed ones that are what people want afaik
