Horrified Deb!
Whether he has 'done the time' or not, I am 'old school' given the manner in which he behaved during that whole sordid affair. Players who were so badly affected by his actions will have no such opportunity and have lost out through little fault of their own. In the meantime, he was paid for the whole time he was stood down.
I heard a comment yesterday from a Freo member that if Hird is in, that member is out and I suspect there may be many like that.
Beautiful morning here - better head out to do some marketing. Nothing much else planned for the day ....... hope you enjoy yours.
Sandy, Sandy, Sandy - lovely to read your newsy post this morning

My thoughts on Hird are pretty much the same as yours Laney... The news came as a bit of a surprise though

It has been discussed ad nauseum on ABC talkback this weekend Deb!
I have often felt the AFL have been lily-livered in their sanctions of players found to have brought the game into disrepute - I think the AFL have done far more of that than many of the players involved ....... all for the almighty dollar.
Hird may have been a good player but the manner in which he handled that matter, both during and after has, in my opinion, been unacceptable and less than honest. He appeared to be worried about 'his' reputation to the detriment of all the others ....... and that, to me, demonstrated a total lack of concern for team members.
We don't need people like that associated with our team thanks.
Postponed the visit to the Sculptures at Cottesloe this weekend - will go next week when the crowds will have eased a bit.
Mandurah Crab Fest coming up soon - now THAT is one not to be missed .... crowd or not
Enjoy your Sunday Ladies

Morning folks
Public holiday here - not much happening as yet except for a caffeine intake.
Whilst imbibing I was looking at the red carpet pics at the Oscars
Helen Mirren looked so elegant and understated - can't say I was impressed with the others and wonder if they look in a mirror before they step out!
Going to be a hottie today - hope all those on the roads returning from a long weekend away take care and keep cool.

Decided to postpone the visit to Cottesloe today - too hot!
Instead I did something naughty ........ Prim don't go mad on me
Apple and cinnamon hot cross buns from Bakers' Delight are DELICIOUS. All you folks who refrain from eating them early - take note ....... DELICIOUS and you heard it first from me here
Bring on the real autumn please whomever!

we've been getting stuck into the traditional ones, will miss them a lot when they go out of production

Hi Friends
Deb I see it is a public holiday in your neck of the woods tomorrow - the variance between states is odd (a bit like the Queen's Birthday Holiday too) although I guess there is some historical reason for that. Can't be bothered researching it though.
I have been researching something else though - having seen reference to it on the Gardening Australia programme. You probably know all about it being a born and bred Victorian. Bickleigh Vale Village - the Edna Walling established village! What a magnificent place to live ...... the gardens are spectacular - not to mention the organic nature of some of the original houses.
Interesting reading too.

Just superb and reminiscent of Mount Wilson in a way.

Vale Stephen Hawking!:
Afternoon friends - hope all well
Ghastly humidity yesterday and the hottest day in summer - even though it is autumn. Had lunch with friends north of the river - they only have evap airconditioning - absolutely useless. Was good to get back to the RC aircon at home lol.
Woke to light rain this morning - blissful.
Some repotting I had done yesterday benefited from the heavenly watering
Thanks for that link Deb - those gardens are magical places.
Nice to see jonnjenn post - it has been a while. ~~~~ waves to jonnjenn ~~~~
Off to the nursery this afternoon - more potting mix and some replacement herbs. Catch up again soon

Well that is the Mandurah Crab Fest done and dusted for another year. Have made a decision to limit our consumption of crabs to those caught locally - over the crowds these days. Curmudgeonly? Not really ...... just exercising freedom of choice afforded by retirement
A magic autumn day here - high blue skies and sunshine without the terrible heat. I know many of you are suffering at the moment and our thoughts go out to those impacted by the fires in Victoria and the very high temps in NSW.
~~~~Freddie I have just caught up with the latest from you ...... good to read you managed to get a decent night's rest for the first time in ages! I wish you many more.
Thinking of you Sandy and hoping that things improve for you each day
