What an extraordinary display of bad sports(wo)manship at Flushing Meadow!
First we see Williams' coach clearly coaching her (which he subsequently admitted), she then says that his 'thumbs up' was not coaching, then she said she did not see him coaching! Dishonesty is never acceptable in any venue/forum. Her selfish behaviour at the presentation ceremony has won her no fans either.
Congratulations Naomi Osaka!!!
Now that I have THAT off my chest, good morning all
Beautiful day here - high blue sky and sunshine so its out to the garden for us.
Have a happy day my friends ..........

I didn't see it, but I heard about it Laney
That would be a first for a Japanese tennis player wouldn't it?

Hi Deb
Yes - she is the first player representing Japan to win a grand slam. She is the daughter of a Japanese mother and Haitian father, moving to the States at the age of 3 and currently residing in Florida.
I see that Williams is now declaring she is speaking up for women and that the actions of the umpire were a slight against women - I see this as her trying to deflect from her actions. Pathetic!
Anyway - will watch with interest to see how she is received here at the Australian Open.
Hope you all had a good weekend - we did as we got a lot done outdoors as rain is predicted tomorrow.
Catch up during the week friends ~~~~~
Edited to add that her 'outfit' warranted a sanction for being contrary to good taste

I think we are all sported out here after a very exciting week-end of
sport and a shameful display of bad sport sour grapes that she was losing
and needed to make a spectacle of herself Serina - in comparison what a delight
young Naomi Osaka is she deserved the title she was not only the better player
but she was the most dignified -she ele by the looks of your excitement back there
^^^^^ your team won - and my Mr F's team won so we have a happy house here
now they have a week off and face the music again before the finals and without
one of their better players due to a suspect tackle and a a missed game to contemplate -
Have a great day enjoy whatever it is you happen to be doing.

The horror of events these past couple of days coupled with (so far) the loss of the lives of two lads in the Swan should put the slings and arrows in anti-social media well and truly in their place.
Sadly they don't but that says so much more of those aiming those salvos. Don't give them the oxygen to exist.
