I can understand them groaning - he certainly did 'go on'
What a gentle woman she is and it was lovely to hear her speak so honestly about the ups and downs of their relationship.
I felt some also saw it as an opportunity to make political statements to a wider audience but I suppose that is understandable.

It's a very political community. That's where the bark petition came from, various political bands, land council leaders etc. More importantly, years ago they adopted the self determination policy to run their own community... and that included a big push for university education, right down to refusal to accept the dole. They worked for it Instead. Even housing, they had to learn building skills and build their own, then teach those skills to the next family who needed a house. It was a brilliant and successful concept 🙂 Not everything worked and they do have problems, but much less than other places.

Good afternoon Stringers 🙂
J*oono has been in my thoughts a lot today.
An absolutely magic day today - lunched down by the river today (Prim will know where I am talking about), came home and did some work in preparation for a meeting tonight and now geeing myself up with a caffeine hit ]:)
Karen thanks for that information - does what you described encompass the 'two-way education' which was mentioned frequently yesterday?

Ooh! You just reminded me I had a cup of coffee sitting in the kitchen for hours. Erk it's cold now.
Both ways education was a concept they developed after self determination got them all educated and in proper positions. In my interview I agreed to train myself out of a job... a bit confronting at the time, but immensely rewarding when I started seeing the results 🙂 Loved that job!
I have smarties in my lolly jar and I can't stop eating them

I was just reading about the Arizona fire where 18 firefighters have lost their lives. Terrible!

Ahhhhh 'both ways education' - I had forgotten the correct term. I thought it related to schooling in both their own language and English to ensure that their language, traditions and history were taught and retained in parallel with their other lessons.
I often drink cold coffee :^O
