Good evening Stringsters
Laney, I think everything is double demerits here in holiday periods. I do not understand the stupidity of those who use their phones whilst driving. So many lives lost because of this one factor. I mean, just how stupid can you be?
I only drive a short way to work but have at least three OMG moments each trip. If I have to drive even more defensively, I will be driving backwards.

I do have a slightly different opinion.
I feel very distracted when my phone is ringing and I can't answer it or check who it is and I sort of think that a quick answer saying I'll call you back would be safe. I should turn my phone off before driving but who thinks of that.
What I think is soooo dangerous is seeing kids texting whilst driving. That is crazy and I think they should have double demerits and a large fine. We were once driving down a busy highway (actually not just once) and a young girl was busy texting and hardly looked at the road for about 500 metres.

Evening to our resident shopper, to our nose to the grindstone Stringer and to my fellow sandgroper, and to our resident Party Planner who just snuck in as I was rambling on lol
I don't know honestly know whether DD points applied to those offences or not Prim - maybe they did but since I never use my phone when I am driving, it was never an issue for me. That the police are now talking about applying them suggests to me that they were not applied previously - only for speeding and DUI generally.
joono, I either put my phone on silent OR switch it off altogether when I pick up my car keys. It has become automatic for me. I do not have messagebank on my mobile but can always check the logs and call anyone back (those whose number I can identify) when I can. The other calls I don't bother about lol.
Sorry, I know we have talked about this before but it came to my mind when I heard the results of the trials undertaken.
As far as texting while driving ....... don't get me started ![]()

Well, Helloooo ladies!
I've been MIA but, of course, not because I was sanctioned or anything ![]()
Mother is here visiting because I've gone back to work and she is "supervising" the kids and keeping me very busy: she makes me go outsdide and do stuff
. She's a Godsend really. Everything we own has been washed, hung out and dried. Pantry has been re-organised. Things are spick and span and organised for when the kids go back to school next week.
We went to a local club for dinner last Saturday night, Mother was itching to get out. We bought some raffle tickets and won a "meat tray" except there are no meat trays these days! OHS/WHS don't you know? I didn't. We got a voucher. I blew most of the voucher at the butcher's today - 30 bucks worth of lamb cutlets, a kilo of chicken breast and some other stuff. Non nom nom nom nom. Lamb cutlets all gone now. Chicken frozen.
How freakin' hot is it?

That was so strange. I got a "post flooding detected" message rather than a "success, go to your post" message so I gave up and hit the back button and there was my post. I hope I didn't post my post 700 times.

Hiya Buzz - we figured you might be out playing on your new toy!
Forgot, like Prim, you would have had to return your nose to the grindstone ![]()
Can you find anything now that she has reorganised your pantry?
No meat trays anymore? Did not know that. I think a voucher is preferable to some of the stuff they use to pad the meat tray out with anyway. At least you get to make your own selections. Lamb is like winning lotto these days anyway. Good on you both!
I hesitate to tell you is isn't hot over here at the moment - we sent it all over your way .....

Buzz, that is a great idea re the meat tray raffle. I always wondered how many people got food poisoning from the meat, chicken and sometimes seafood on those trays. The lamb cutlets sound yum, my favourite food after prawns.
Joono, it has been illegal here for years and years to be on the phone whilst driving. I don't answer mine either Laney, it anyone wants to speak to me they will phone back or phone our homeline.
Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boy Flashie :).
