Round Table Revisited

And so Lord of the String said unto the peoples, "Go forth anew. Seek a land you can call your own."

The people saw it was good.

So, on the last day the people said their solemn goodbyes and began the long journey to the promised new land.

And so began the new land and its people were joyous!

Welcome, to the Return of the Round Table known as...

Boat races is the name for beer sculling competitions, Joono lol, they do have dry river boat races in Alice springs....and a beer can regatta in Darwin.

Pimpy, I made the mistake of telling Yowie I was thirsty, after driving up from Forbes in 45 degrees... Thinking a glass of water would be nice...but he got me a free schooner of beer. I don't drink alcohol (gee I was out of place in that environment lol) but he looked so proud to be giving it free, I had to drink it...and then had to sit there for an hour until I could walk to the bar to thank him lmao

Yowie was going to take me down his opal mine ๐Ÿ˜„

He was actually a good bloke. He couldn't read a word, but could read the horse form... Well, he thought he couldn't read until I pointed out he was reading the horse form lol

Did you ever play golf on the Grawin golf course? It was amazing! Dry dirt with diesel slicked "greens". My roo avatar was taken on that golf course.
Yowie is a good bloke. So is his BIL  and sister who wouldn't have been far away.
Do you mean the Club in the Scrub golf course? There's one at Glengarry too, although it has more rocks I think. We didn't go to the Club in the scrub much, they were a bit hmmmm stuck up, kinda. The Glengarry Hilton is more our style. We have an opal mine at "Central Station" on the glengarry fields.
I'd love someof those rogue tomato seeds if you get around to keeping any.
I wish it would rain here. I relented and put sprinklers on the lawn this evening, and now the darn rainwater house pump won't turn off. Grrrr.

I'm waiting on Wildlife Rescue to come and get an orphaned baby ringtail possum, I hope they get here in time. Poor little thing, it survived the night but it's mother doesn't seem to be around. I've just brought it indoors and put the heater on to keep it warm

Aww that's sad, Deb ๐Ÿ˜ž poor little thing.

Pimpy yep, the club in the scrub...I used to work with the opal miners wives out there. Amazingly resilient women, living without power or water or roads or anything, but all as happy as could be.

The Hilton crew and the club mob really don't like each other eh... typical tiny town warring ๐Ÿ™‚

Yowie had nice family, knew them all at the time. I wonder why Yowie looked like that...rough life, maybe? I love how everyone in those towns is known by nickname.

Good morning Stringers ๐Ÿ™‚ I've got too much soil, so before I do the lawns I'm going to prepare a hole to plant a lemon tree. I was going to name it tony abbott, but I think I'll call it the ;\ tree ๐Ÿ˜„

Morning everyone.

That is not a good way to start the week, Deb.  Poor little thing.

I'm up for the second time.  I managed to wake up at three this morning to make sure son got away on time to the airport.  A few days or a week in Karratha.  I forgot to ask when he is coming back!

Luckily I managed to get another couple of hours sleep after that.  Even the dog and cat were cranky at that time of the day.

Round Table Revisited

Hi all

oh, poor little possum.

joono, we lived in Karratha for a while, it's where I first started painting. The colours and rocks formation around there are amazing.  One of my favourite beaches is Point Samson.

Haven't read back but hope all is well in everyones world.

Karen, you know how you said you'd like to visit East Timor.......how do you see it in your mind?  I'm asking because it's nothing like I pictured it....well, where OH is anyway. I thought tropical, lush etc........dry, brown and dusty is what it is.  OH said it reminds him of Nigeria....without the AK's, armoured cars and not as dirty (rubbish wise).

Getting more corrupt as the wages are pitiful..the cops earn the same as a road sweeper...just begging for corruption.  Very smoky, people have to burn their rubbish or just leave it.  There is a rubbish removal system but think it's pretty hit and miss.  The big tourist "hotel" is the old army barracks....luxury lol

The Indonesians built a small version of a statue of jesus, like the one in Rio.  OH was taken for a drive around the area yesterday.  It sounds like it would have been nice, walking paths and a road to the top but with no vegetation, mud slides and rocks falling have made unsafe for cars now.

If you really want to go there.....probably better to go sooner rather than later.

Good morning all Smiley Happy

Looking like a magic day here in the wonderful west.  Have not had time to read back yet - just having a morning coffee in preparation for a busy day ahead.

Keeping a close watch on the fires in the Blue Mountains - I have good friends currently fighting the fires in their capacities in the RFS and of course my kin there also so am naturally concerned for their safety and well-being.

I do know that there are some posters on the boards who also live in the Upper Mountains and naturally hope they are all safe too.
