Rudd lied about caring for TAFE....

In the ALP costings they have announced they will in fact pull $111 million OUT of TAFE funding... 

In fact they have taken over $1.6 billion out of Federal Departments so I guess they too will be sacking individuals....

Do you even know or understand what is happening to TAFE at state levels at the moment? Particularly in Qld and Vic??

The Federal Govt keeps pouring money into the states for TAFE funding and the states in turn are using that money elsewhere. At the same time they are cutting costs and hiking up fees. A nice little reminder of the good old days when Howard encouraged them to treat TAFEs as a profit centre.

What is the point of the Federal Govt putting money towards one program for the states if they use it instead on another? The money he was promising was a carrot that he was dangling in front of the state leaders in order to make them accountable. Unfortunately they all thought he was bluffing.

Personally I hope that TAFE does become directly federally funded as he is threatening. At least then the money will be going exactly where it should be going.

I don't care when they do but the fact is they said they would release them before the embargo and they didn't.

Secondly, Rudd didn't run off to treasury to get anything costed. The costing were requested from treasury in May (after budget response) and the documnet clearly stated that. It also clearly stated they were pre care take mode costings. It was the media that made the mistake about those. There was no deception about it.

So tell me, what policies do the LNP have to fix the shamozzle that is TAFE?

Oh well. Maybe our state leaders can help do something about it. What do you think? Let's see what Newman and Napthine are doing in their states. And what about O'Farrell - what is he planning? After all those 3 states are where TAFE is most likely to fold.

Oh look! All 3 Premiers seem to have a policy of "cut, cut, cut". They think that using their federal accollocation of funds for further education is a free for all to fund other departments. And what party do they belong to? Well how about that - they are all LIBERALS.

Yeah. The Labor Party have really failed TAFE.
