Rupert Murdoch-Wendi Deng Divorce, Day Two: Enter Tony Blair?

Remember last week when there was a news headline "senior high-ranking british MP involved in a scandal"

I wondered who it was this time, then forgot all about it.

Then on yesterday's news:

"Curiouser and curiouser. Day Two of the Rupert Murdorch-Wendi Deng divorce story turned juicier when ex-British prime minister and Deng pal Tony Blair got dragged into it."

"Said scandal turned out to be the claim that Deng, 44, had an affair with Blair, 60, who happens to be godfather of the couple's two young daughters, Grace, 11, and Chloe, 9."

Still, imagine the dismay of a former British premier having to deny involvement in this mess. At first, the speculation was coy. BBC economics editor Robert Peston tweeted Thursday that he was told that "undisclosed reasons for Murdoch divorcing Deng are jaw-dropping - & hate myself for wanting to know what they are."

Later, Wolff, the author of the Murdoch biography, The Man Who Owns The News: Inside The Secret World Of Rupert Murdoch, tweeted that "Rumor about the big B is everywhere except in print."

Some background info:

When Deng was living with Jake and Joyce Cherry during her studies in the United States, Joyce Cherry discovered her husband Jake was having an affair with Deng, who was 30 years his junior, and demanded she leave the house.

Jake Cherry soon followed and moved in with her, and the two married in 1990. Their marriage lasted 2 years and 7 months before they were legally divorced,but Jake would later explain they only stayed together for 4 or 5 months,when he learned that Deng was spending time with David Wolf, a man closer to her age.

Nonetheless, she had been able to secure a green card through her marriage to Cherry.

It appears Blair is godfather to Grace only.
