Russia - such a disgrace !

I don't know about anyone else. but I nor our business, is any longer buying anything remotely Russian.

This is not so much choosing to take a side, but merely not wanting to be seen as condoning recent events.

What a great idea!

There must be thousands of sellers there focusing on listing on eBay while bombs are destroying their homes.

Then deftly side stepping the tanks in their rush to the post office with their packages... only to find it has been bombed to rubble.

You have outdone yourself with this insane post.

Nothing insane about rogespeed's post.  As I mentioned there'll be eBay sellers of Ukraine descent in other countries.   Also after the dust settles, Ukraine will need to rebuild, Buying of the people there will be a good thing.

I see rogespeed has made a useful comment again and as a researcher, he's found some valuable info on a wide range of things.

Re: Russia - such a disgrace !

@4channel, @rogespeed

how exactly would members here in Australia verify that a seller who claims to be Ukrainian IS Ukrainian?  AND that funds will support Ukraine?

We regularly see buyers come here complaining that a seller they thought was an Aussie is actually Chinese.

Also, what is stopping a Russian seller from claiming to be Ukrainian?  I certainly couldn’t tell with certainty?

Could you?  If you could, then please explain!

If I was going to support sending funds to Ukraine I’d do it through an officially registered charity.

Let’s discuss this!

**could 4channel’s alerter please let him know about this post? Cheers pal

Re: Russia - such a disgrace !

4channel, I wanted to let you know that I will not listen to Tucker Carlson. I have seen/heard some of his material before, and that decided me on my current stance and perspective. I hope you understand my position on this. It's not influenced by anyone other than... Tucker Carlson.

Back to the matter at hand, though:

Ukraine has taken back some of the towns around Kyiv. I see that defence intelligence reports that the Russian units that have been bombarding and attempting to capture Bucha and Irpin have probably been encircled by Ukraine defence forces.

The Russian advance upon Kyiv has stalled. The real danger now is from long-range weapons by the Russian military pulverising targets, many of them civilian.

Re: Russia - such a disgrace !

Hopefully you will not ignore me if I ask the same question as another poster.

How would we find Sellers of Ukraine descent... will there be a separate section on Google where only these are shown?

If on eBay how will we know that the seller is truly Ukrainian & not a Russian soldier etc?

Both of you have not thought this through.

Re: Russia - such a disgrace !

I'd say it would be potentially unhelpful to buy from Ukrainian ebay sellers right at the moment. Even if a listing showed the seller as being in Ukraine, there is nothing to say  the postal service wouldn't be disrupted. In fact, I'd expect it to be. So where does that leave buyers? Should they open an INR case if they don't get it? Or just wipe it off as a loss and a donation to a Ukrainian citizen? If the latter, then it might be better to just give to a proper charity.

In the future, if things settle down, it might be different although any sale on ebay is a business transaction and there's nothing to say all Ukrainian sellers are saints either or that all Russian sellers are devils.

If you take the time to listen to Tucker Carlson on his show, see the link I provided, you'll find that it is relevant.  His segment where he addresses other aspects of this issue actually help to put things in perspective,

OK, when I replied to rogespeed  with . . . .

"Good point rogespeed, if one were to take the time to look around the traps, there would be quite a few Ukraine sellers around the world. Buying from them would enable them to send back money to relatives"  . . . .

I did so with the intent that the statement is general, refers to eBayers around the world.  Many people around the world would be able to remember or know of a Ukranian seller.

First it was a US demand that China vote to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, then suspiciously-sourced accusations that China was to provide military equipment to China, to now a sudden new round of sanctions on China. Does Washington really believe China will act as the US proxy in the region? Does Washington want to take on both Russia AND China (and maybe India)? Also today, US firms not told to leave Russia, White House claims. And, Ukraine's Zelensky bans opposition parties and all non pro-Zelensky media...
