ref questions from OP:
1. Is this intimidation?
2. Is this WW3?
...............................................................................................................................................................................................
No.
No.
......The oceans and seas of our great planet Earth are vast.......warships do not spend most of their time at dock. These Russian vessels are allowed to be where they are as would be many other nations' vessels if they chose to go there..........besides, they are not in Australian Territorial waters, are they?
What's all the fabricated 'hype' about?...........more invented media BS imo.

and it is not the first time Russians have showed military force at a major international event.
In 2010 then President Dmitry Medvedev was accompanied to a visit in San Francisco by Russia’s Pacific Fleet.
Russian war ships were spotted sitting off Singapore in 2009 ahead of the APEC meeting.
There is nothing new about this.
Australian warships were monitoring the movement of Russian warships off Singapore and Northern Australian waters in the 1960s and 70s.
There were no International events taking place to use as an excuse....it was just letting everyone know they were there. And the USA was not far behind.

Hey, Bandcamp, will you come and rescue me if the Russkis get to Coffs Harbour?
Me too Katy, we'll meet at the Jetty, we can see the invading boats from there.
