a week out from result day and allready cracks apearing on the govt side,
Same-sex marriage: 'More than a dozen' conservatives prepare alternative bill to protect religious freedoms
any chance a simple change to the law "IF" the survey says YES, looks doomed allready.
we were promised, if we allowed this stupid survey to be held and if it was a yes result then it would be a simple change to the wording of the act and that will be that.
oh but here come the 'well, how about we add this, and this, oh and we dont want that.....ect ect.
again i fully expect malcom to be a 'yes' man, saying yes to whatever the guys keeping him in the PMs chair say.

All that has been achieved so far is the opinion of the people that a bill should be introduced into Parliament to change the current Marriage Laws.
The devil will be in the detail.....no-one can guarantee that the bill will pass until the full bill is available for perusal.

I am delighted but a little surprised by the vote. I once would never have thought that the majority of Australians would vote yes to same sex marriage. I guess the era of over weight, macho, beer swigging blokes and Aussie sheilas may be something of the past now. I am really interested in what this means about us!

I still think the voting should have had several questions to be accurate.
IMO most people wouldn't have anything against same sexers marrying (can do as they please), however the current marriage institution may not want same sexers within their sacred institution (or wanting acceptance from others).
IOW, same sexers could have their own institution.
I feel many of the No voters just don't want those ideas encroaching their lives, and fair enough too.
Then there are those that don't want the idea of marriage ramed down their throats at all, be it opp sex or same sex.

To be quite honest.
Marriage is a commitment between 2.
Don't care who, what, they are.
A RIGHT.
No one else should have a say in it.
Nobody had a say in mine.

are you saying,
the people have had their say,
now,
let the games begin?
i sure wouldnt want to be in a liberal seat if they drag this out more than a couple of months

now thats a little short sighted domino. what about all those poor bi-people. you saying they not allow to marry now?
how about we also ban the use of the words HUSBAND and WIFE as this inferrs a union between non-homosexual people. How dare a man and woman be able to be called husband and wife when a SS couple can not.
next we will have a survey about the use of the term mother and father. these two words are sure to offend some minority group so lets just change them to primary female carer and primary male carer. cant use mother and father as this also infers sex between consenting non-homosexual people. How bloody disgusting is that...we should all hang our head in shame if you consider yourself a husband or wife or mother or father.

That pretty much sums it up David.
The vote did not give anyone a right to change the Law.....just the opportunity to introduce a bill into the Parliament.
I heard Mathius Cormann tonight saying that the discussions will start tomorrow about what should and should not be in the bill....and the trade offs that will be involved. There is still the potential for the bill to be rejected by Parliament.

What a load of c--p. This is just following the No vote propaganda of saying parents can't be called mum or dad by their children. I doubt that any of their "campaign material" will become any part of Legislation proposed by the cross benches and should consigned to the garbage bin. Please don't answer with " but a friend who knows/ is common knowledge, some on the inside etc".
