Indonesia's justice minister will sign Schapelle Corby's parole application in the next three days.
Do you think they'll sign?

That poor, poor girl and her family
She is not a "girl". When she committed the last offence, she was a divorved woman old enough to be a grandmother.
Polks, I think you are confusing Schapelle Corby with someone else. She is 36 and as far as I know has never been married or convicted of more than one offence.
I did not say convicted. She was married to and divorced from a Japanese man, who she met while working as a "hostess" in Japan.

So she's been ------- gasp ----- shock ---- horror ----------- divorced ?
Good grief !
Divorced !
Oh my goodness !
It's that bad ?
Well, for sure they won't give her back the freedom they stole from her, now we know she's been divorced !
She worked as a hostess in Japan ?
Wow ! Just like thousands of women from all over the world ?
You mean she talked to Japanese businessmen for an hour or so and was paid according to the amount of liquor they consumed ?
Not like Aussie women, huh, who go out to clubs looking for Mr. Right and allowing men to buy them drinks, drive them home, stay the night, etc. ?
Gee, there's so much against her: she's female ---- she's not a girl any more, unlike the rest of us who never aged --- she's been divorced, unlike everyone else --- and she chatted with Japanese businessmen and was paid for it
Man. Throw away the BOOK !
And let's not even bother discussing the fact she felll victim to a drug-smuggling operation entrenched within Australian customs and police, after which she was wrongly accused and has been forced to sit in an Indonesian prison for years while the drug-smugglers, customs and police were sitting at home watching the plasmas paid for via their drug deals
Well, on balance, I STILL hope that poor, poor girl is released very soon
And I hope she makes a bloody FORTUNE from books, documentaries, films and tv !

Schapelle was married in either 1997 or 1998 to a japanese guy, they separated in 2000.
This guy she married visits her every day, while she is in prison.

They could not make the movie without her permission and payments for the rights.
Money talks, and talks a lot in Indonesia. She may not be able to leave their country, but she will live a life of luxury, such as she never knew before.
Guilty or innocent. The time she spent in prison will be well paid for.

it would have to be a hell of a lot of money to come even close to making it worth spending your youth in a place like that, and what price does someone put on a person's sanity?
no amount of money is ever going to make her memories go away.

Sorry Polks, I didn't realise she'd been married.
I still feel calling her 'old enough to be a grandmother' at 36 is drawing a bit of a long bow though and you did say, 'when she committed the last offence.' That does kind of imply she had been convicte dof something previously.

Quote:
' In the mid-1990s, Corby met a Japanese man, Kimi Tanaka, who was on a working holiday in Australia and the two began dating.[5]
On his return to Japan, Corby continued to visit him and the two married in June 1998 in the Japanese town of Omaezaki, Shizuoka Prefecture.
While living in Omaezaki she worked at a ryokan (Japanese inn). Her husband also found work in the hospitality industry and as a seasonal worker on nearby tea farms.
The couple separated and Corby returned to Australia in July 2000. The couple's divorce was finalised in 2003' end quote

Quote:
'
A ryokan (旅館?) is a type of traditional Japanese inn that originated in the Edo period (1603–1868), when such inns served travelers along Japan's highways. They typically feature tatami-matted rooms, communal baths, and other public areas where visitors may wear yukata and talk with the owner.[1]
Ryokan are difficult to find in Tokyo and other large cities because many are expensive compared to hotels, and Japanese people increasingly use hotels for urban tourism. Nonetheless, some major cities do have reasonably priced ryokan, with some costing as little as $40 a night. However, ryokan are more typically located in scenic areas, such as in the mountains or by the sea,[2] and in recent years many ryokan have been redeveloped to their original style particularly by resort chain Hoshino Resorts, whose first ryokan opened in Karuizawa in 1914.' end quote

So it appears Schapelle Corby met her Japanese husband while he was in Australia
They married and moved to Japan
where Schapelle worked in a ryokan or Japanese inn, description above
Nothing out of order there at all, imo

I choose my words carefully, even though they might cause apoplexy. Some people confuse stated words with opinions.

Couple of lovely photos accompanying the Wiki entry (below) for ryokan
They're compared to English Bed and Breakfasts

'Le mot exact' is not always 'le mot juste', Polks.Technically a 26 or even 25 year old could be described as old enough to be a grandmother.
BTW what was/were the previous offence(s) of which she was not convicted?
