Schapelle Corby to be released?

Indonesia's justice minister will sign Schapelle Corby's parole application in the next three days.

Do you think they'll sign?

Co-writer, I misheard.  But she is obviously a supporter.  That's why I don't believe much.

Re: Schapelle Corby to be released?

I saw a photo before of Schapelle's bed (mattress on the floor with colourful linen) and near it she had quite a lot of her stuff arranged against the wall. I would even say it looked 'homely'. I know it would be just a small corner of a shared cell probably.

Polks if you enjoy Hotel Kerobokan read Snowing in Bali, I enjoyed that one better, I was shocked that these drug deals were being done in lots of my favourite places! I spent my next holiday looking for a certain tattoo between the thumb and forefinger of all the security guards and was surprised to see lots of them!

Re: Schapelle Corby to be released?

from everything I have read, watched (no to do with Corby) while prisons in Indonesia and a few other Asian countries aren't what we would consider the most hygienic etc, one thing that does seem to be missing is the violence among inmates to the extent of  what goes on in ours, US and UK's and other's . Quite often when US prisoners, among others are offered to end their sentences at home, they decline.  There is no link, this is just a view.

It looks ok for a weekend of roughing it. I don't think it would be much chop for 9 years though.

i dont get it, does pot fetch a good price in bali?

thought it was cheap over there

Australian grown is much purer an better quality, much sought after, and easy to sell there.  A relative has a surf shop,

Why would someone go to the trouble to take a piece of foam across countries to visit someone who has dozens of the same pieces of foam there for the borrowing?  And many times.

There are hundreds of Australians in overseas prisons.  Why are we fixated on this one?

how do you know aussie pot is better quality and sought after?
define purer? do you mean if it's sold without leaf mixed in or something? well... that would depend on whose selling it here or OS

Signatures suck.

Re: Schapelle Corby to be released?

Not quite.

"Schapelle Corby has been granted parole, Indonesian officials have announced.

In a vague press conference, Justice Minister Amir Syamsuddin confirmed that Corby was one of more than a thousand applicants he considered for parole.

He would not say directly whether Corby would be freed, and stated that despite the attention her conviction has garnered, she would not be treated differently than any other prisoner.

Corby, who was convicted of smuggling marijuana into Bali in 2005, has spent nine years behind bars at Kerobokan prison.

Despite her parole being confirmed, the head of the jail said it is impossible for the Queensland woman to be set free today."
