Schappelle Corby could be in trouble after sisters interview.

Apologies if this has already been posted, I did have a quick look and could not see another thread about it.

I was browsing news.com.au this morning as I do to catch up with current events and I saw this article with regards to the interview on the Sunday Night program with Mercedes Corby.

At the time I thought it was a sneaky way of circumventing the 'no interview' rule imposed by Schappelle's parole team/Balinese Justice system.

Seems like she could now be in trouble because of her sisters big mouth and eagerness to flaunt Schappelle's first days of freedom to television cameras.

Part of the article:

THE Corby family’s underwhelming Sunday Night interview could see the newly released Schapelle Corby sent back to jail.

An angry Indonesian Justice Minister Amir Syamsuddin said late last night there was a chance Corby’s parole will be reviewed as a result of the Seven Network’s program on Schapelle.

“I am still waiting for complete reports from the Bali Correction Board. But for now, I can say that there is a possibility that I will review the Corby’s parole,” Mr Syamsuddin said at his Jakarta office.

The minister was so annoyed about the turn of events since Corby’s release from jail that he didn’t even wait for questions from the reporters gathered at his office last night.

He immediately made a statement that Corby could see herself back in jail.

Mr Syamsuddin said he would wait for a complete report from the Bali parole board about the program and its content before making a decision.

So my speculation was correct.

I don't agree. It was no secret Ch7 was paying for the villas. Whether there was any interview or not.. exclusive with or without Schapelle,  or a interview with Mercedes or not.. they still would have paid for the villas.

Obviously CH7 paying for the villa's isn't considered as Schapelle profitting from her crime as far as the AFP goes, nor did the Indonesian Authoritries object to that. How that can be considered payment in kind for doing an interview I don't know.

I think there could be a reasonable expectation that there was something in it for Channel 7.   They would not foot the bills for the villas without expecting something in return, whether immediately or somewhere down the tracks.

I wonder what was hidden away in the fine print of any previous contracts?

I wonder if the parole board will count the "endorsement deals"

I'm going to make a grim prediction.  I dont think she'll survive untill 2017 in Bali.  I wouldn't be surprised if she was to get assassinated.  Not that I'm hoping or wanting this to happen.  I just think they should keep a low profile until she is allowed to come home.

I agree with you.  Both the government and the local population are very angry at the events so far.

I found this link that says Mercedes was paid money for her arranging that interview on Ch 7.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/opinion/channel-7s-shame-to-cry-victim-in-raid-over-schapelle-corby...

"Seven’s commercial director, Bruce McWilliam, last week brazenly admitted Seven indeed wanted to pay “in that ballpark” of $500,000 for convicted drug smuggler Corby to tell about her life and crimes. “Sure, there’s an expectation money might have to be paid,” he said.

Indeed, Seven has already paid Corby’s sister Mercedes $25,000 to arrange the interview — and who can tell how much of that goes to Schapelle, now on parole in Bali?"

I already read that ( about the $25 000) info which was published in mainstream media so obviously not contravening the Profit from Crimes Act. That is not the same as speculation about payment (underhand) of kind (to Schapelle to avoid it being seen as profits of crime).

Ch 7 paid for her accom also to seclude her & make sure no other media outlets got photos of
Schapelle in the time directly after her release so they have exclusive photos of that tine. No doubt we will be seeing them in 2017.
