Scott Morrison

Is full of it, how can a Minister go on and on and on, for what about 3/4hr, repeating the same ole over and over again without answering the questions asked of him? All he done was repeat his "crystal clear" slogan when in fact nothing is crystal clear except his Government's failure to stop the boats, as per their election promise.

Re: Scott Morrison

Invaders? They don't bring weapons and attack. They come to seek safety and begin a new life. As such they are looking for our door on which to knock.

News Breakers – Air Force Reserve – March 2012

Certain Danger - No Option but to Flee

Members with exposure to the Reserve rarely are surprised at the
fantastic diversity of life and work experience our part-time
members bring to Air Force.

However, occasionally we encounter a member whose
background stretches the boundaries of what we readily
understand as ‘strength from diversity’ in the Reserve.

What you are about to read is one of those stories…

From refugee boat person to Air Force Reserve orthopaedic
robotic limb surgeon – it's a remarkable journey – one of fear,
faith and courage.

Re: Scott Morrison

Not carrying a weapon does not stop you from being an invader.

These unlawful entrants do not seek permission enter when in fact there are mechanisms laid down to do so but instead they use force to enter uninvited.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

They come by boat so they can seek our permission to stay.  Times have changed since the days when there might have been some nice little orderly queue somewhere for them join the end of.

The only hope many have these days is to run and hope they can find safe haven and a new life.

Never get between a mob, a rope and a good lynching.

The first rule of natural justice.  Every person has a right to of reply.

Now we have this lovely little lady who spent a couple of days on Manus, and then has a lot to say as to what she found there.  Ok she could be telling the truth.  Or she could be manipulating the facts to suit a particular agenda.  Who can say one way or the other?

That is why we have due process.  That is one person says something, which means I have a right to challenge it, and hopefully finally the truth will prevail.  Unfortunately this takes time.

But why wait.  Why not simply shortcut the process and listen to what we want to hear.  Saves a lot of time, provides the outcome you want, and if the first casualty is the truth, well…

i think you skipped a few years of political debate ? the new political discourse is of abbotts making . its too late to complain about the kangaroo court he unleashed i'm afraid, and although i agree with the principle you espouse it no longer applies in australia's parliament. the adults are in charge , its their agenda and tactics that apply now.

Re: Scott Morrison

They come by boat to take advantage over those who do not have the funds and are waiting their turn in camps while they are being assessed for relocation.

Why do you think that there are risks taken at a cost 10 times the cost of a safe air fare from Indonesia to Australia?

Some like to travel incognito?  Why?

Re: Scott Morrison

You missed something in my post.  My income does not stretch to a "chardy or two".  And I have worn a uniform or two, perhaps not the same as yours, but one in which I served my fellow human beings.

Re: Scott Morrison

Maybe the one you should try wearing is the one where you get paid to be shot at.  Maybe then you might not begrudge those that do the benefits they obtain on account of the risks they take on your behalf.

But then of course if you’re not prepared to take the risks, don’t complain about the lack of hazard pay.

Re: Scott Morrison

they take risks and travel incognito because they may face persecution in their own countries, especially if they are identified. it could also mean ramifications for their friends & families left behind

they are asylum seekers

Re: Scott Morrison

No I didn’t.

I was as critical of Abbott for his failure to follow due process whilst he was in opposition, as I am of those who seem to take the same path now.
