The OH has received an invitation to have a screening done by them to check for the possibility of a stroke.

If there has been a possibility of a stroke....see your doctor...Ct Scan would be needed.....
Bit strange to receive an invitation?
http://strokefoundation.com.au/what-is-a-stroke/treatment-for-stroke/early-testing-after-stroke/
Brain Scan: A Computer Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are tests that tell where your stroke has happend in the brain and what type of stroke it was. CT should occur for all stroke patients in the first 24 hours after a stroke. Your doctor can talk to you about the results of your scan.
Blood tests: These are done to check clotting ability of your blood, whether you have anaemia (low iron in blood), possible inflammation or to test blood chemistry (like levels of potassium or glucose).
Heart tests: These may include a test for abnormal heart rhythm or heart disease (electrocardiogram). It may also include an ultrasound to check for a clot or enlargement of a chamber of your heart (echocardiogram). An electrocardiogram is recommended for all stroke patients.
Neurological tests: Ultrasound, MRI or angiogram (dye test) look for clots or narrowing of the main arteries in your neck (carotid artery).

Found this....never heard of it...
MEDICAL regulators have warned the public to be wary of a new private stroke-screening service, saying they could be wasting their money as there is little evidence the tests can reduce risk of the condition.
International preventive health company Screen for Life has recently started operating in Australia and is mailing over-50s, urging them to make an appointment for a $199 stroke screen.

Thanks I thought that I had heard somewhere that the company was a bit dodgy. The OH is getting a will concerned about his health as he is getting older.
No probs. From the articles...
The National Stroke Foundation has distanced itself from the group, posting a warning on its website saying that it does not
endorse Screen for Life's services nor does it support medical tests that may be unnecessary.
Professor Stephen Davis, director of neurology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, said he was also concerned. "There is no high-
quality study anywhere in the world that has shown that screening of this type reduces the risk of stroke,''
Doctors can organise tests that are covered by medicare, bulk billing.....keep your money in your pocket.

Has he had a coronary calcium score done? It is not expensive and would reveal the condition of the arteries. Cholesterol readings are a bit useless without this score.

I got one of those, it is of no value, if the Dr wants you to have one, he will refer you to the correct places.
