Seeking accomodation in Sydney please xooxox

I need your help and advice on where is best to stay in Sydney.

We need to be at the Australian Technology park in Sydney in April and i would like to stay somewhere very close for the weekend.

I note that the Alexandria Hotel is very close, but it doesnt do accomodation (according to its website)  😞

Any suggestions? Cheap would be best as 2 nights for 3 adults might cost a pretty penny, and I dont know the city that well at all.

nothing fancy, just a bed and a shower really.

Thanks Sydney-ites 🙂  xooxxo

Formula 1's are very claustophobic for 2 or 3 people, I would never stay in one unless alone.

Problem is that ATP is not in a very nice area so you wouldn't want to be stuck there.

There won't be anywhere to stay that you could walk to the park so the best thing to do would be to stay anywhere near a train station.

Newtowns good - lots of shops and cafes. Never closes. There are some B&Bs in Newtown but usually only one or 2 rooms so not sure what your sleeping arrangments are like.

Or near Central station? Valentines On George, BreakFree and the Pensione Hotel are all little hotels at the scungy end of the CBD. All on George Street and very close to Central Station. Walking distance to Chinatown and down the hill from all the hip cafes and restaurants in Surry Hills.

If you want cheap but not nasty there is the Sydney Central YHA. The place gets loads of tourists and you can stay in own rooms. I often have breakfast on the cafe on the ground floor and it is usually full of the older Scandinavian couples or English backpackers. That is right opposite Central station.

I stayed here last year, got a good deal for breakfast included

it was reasonably priced, clean and close to the city.

Thanx everyone.... 🙂

We intend to travel to the hotel by car, then whilst in Sydney, go by Public Transport.

I did check out the accomodation section of the ATP website, but it was for fancy pansy hotels only.

I actually dont mind the Formula 1 motel chains. They are now called *Ibis* I think. ... We will most likely just stay at one of these, most likely Wentworthville as that is close to the train-station. I was just hoping that there was something closer... Might give ibis hotel a google. LOL
Im not claustrophobic! 😉

Cheers folks.
Hoping there will be an update about this after the event... *wink wink* 😉  😉

Randwick is kind of nice and on the transport lines, if you are not used to Sydney the inner west and City areas may be a bit scary, and it is close to the beach.

I don't think janeababe needs to even go as far as Randwick Donna. You would pay around $100 per night for the Wentworthville Ibis but there are some really decent places in Sydney centre for that price.
