does every people deserve the government they voted into office?
on โ13-10-2013 09:51 PM
first i thought the answer was a clear "yes" but i now tend to "maybe/probably not" while the sentence "... they know not what they do" spooks around in the back of my head.

i dont think people deserve the blame. so no i dont think so. its just one of those unfortunate things

unfortunate....are things that just "happen". voting in a government requires a certain activity.
it may sound offensive but it could be stated "should people have to suffer from consequences they inflicted onto themselves (because they are ignorant/stupid (by choice))?"

they probably do that anyway. (suffer because of choices) maybe voters should be guilt and blame free in order to not prevent them coming back

maybe to be eligible vote one should have to sit a test in which one has to know the basic policies of the main political parties.
i think it is wrong that the majority of voters votes against their own interests and doesn't even know.

i agree that many do. its not a popular view from what i've observed though, people feel insulted by the implication which doesn't help.

feeling insulted is better than having to put up with implementations that make your life quality worse.
work choices for example.
as most australians are NOT employers, but employees it does not make sense to vote in someone who does stuff that is in your worst interest.
feeling insulted seems like a minor irritation compared with that.
it is not in the interest of most australians to subsidise big companies that have tons of money already. a well...just me ranting, and still divided if they deserve what they did to themselves.
