A MOTHER may be charged after she jumped online to seek medical advice instead of calling 911 after her 14-year-old son was shot.
Santa Fe police said video from the home shows Pete Jesse Rodriguez, 24, who also lives in the house, pointing a gun at the teenager and following him around the home. He then pointed at the boy's thigh and shot him in the leg.
Eventually, seven hours later, the mother drove her son to the hospital where he is now is a stable condition.
Mr Rodriguez has been charged with one count of injury to a child with intent to harm and is being held on $US151,500 ($149,000) bond.
Police said they are considering charging the boy's mother with injury to a child by omission.
